Rustproofing for XB2?
Well I'm a new member but have been reading these boards for quite a while now. Awesome site. Anyways I'm in the process of buying a new xb2 and was wondering if I should go for the rustproofing, I'm in Hawaii now but in about a year i'm taking the car with me to Seattle, WA. Considering the rain and winter and all that up in WA, should I get the rustproofing? Or should I just wait and get it done elsewhere? If it matters, I want the Super White or the Silver.
Thanks so much in advance

Don't pay for rustproofing at the dealership, it's a profit center for them, which means lots of $$ for minimal benefit!
I used to work at a dealership as a senior consultant, so I know of what I speak.

You must live in the high desert lvbitwiz; the rest of the auto world markets this B.S. as "rustproofing" or "car care".
P.S. I do know that you're in Las Vegas. Do you want to place an odds bet on UCLA to go all the way for me?

I live in hawaii also chopstikz and I just bought mine a few days ago. The bottom of the xb2 is already rustproofed and I talked to a few friends and they said the car should be fine as long as when you take it to the beach you wash it after and get the salt water off. Not 2 sure how its gonna be in Seattle tho... But my guess is its gonna be fine without it

jonmach12, i'm guessing it took a bit out of ya for them to give it free? anywho, thanks everybody
Seattle's winters are mild. But even where I live, near Detroit, I wouldn't (and haven't) pay for rustproofing. Today's cars just don't need it. You hardly ever see a rusty car that was produced after 1995.

So true. Older cars had issues of rust, all makes all models.
I had my Camry for 9 years in the PacNW, and never had a problem of rust. Get this...even with a scratch where the paint was removed, it never rusted. Granted, it spent most of its life in a covered garage, but still...
Your new car is warrantied against rust for 5 yrs/unlimited mileage anyway.
