Default safety

Well.... I am a (or was) a 2006 XB owner and I loved that car... until I was sideswiped with my son in the back seat.
So.... car totalled... After having a big dilema new or old, I have decided on the 2008.
While I hate that the MPG is less...The smog rating is better as well as the greenhouse emissions. So I'm giving a little and taking a little ( and from what i read most ppl are getting 26 mpg combined city/hwy).

While I hate to give up the originality of the design... and yes I loved to be square. I believe I'm making up for it in safety. (the old XB did not and could not have side air bags).. and yes my son plays soccer!

I do wish they had named it a different X... and kept the old model for those who want it.

Anyway thats my two cents.

not to be an attack to you but I think its good they kept it named the xB. I've heard that from a lot of 1st gen owners that the new one is not an xB..... it is, its just redesigned, its still square, if oyu put them side by side you can see similarities.
Many cars get completely redesined but people accept them for what they are: Jettas, GTIs, Eclipses, Maxima, etc...
They look different but thats the point.

The new xD, i dont care..... its still an xA
again, not an attack but its said way too much around here

Sorry about your loss; happy everyone's okay; enjoy the plushier ride. You'll see the likeness to the Gen1 pretty soon.

Let's not turn this into a 1st gen versus 2nd gen bout.

One of the main reasons why I bought this is the safety. While we don't have kids, I know that during our ownership we will. I wanted to make sure that we have something safe. Plus, I feel a whole lot better letting my wife drive it. The 2003 Impala she had was a death trap. No ABS, traction control, thin doors and huge steering wheel.

The safety features were definitely a selling point for this car... plus it made my insurance drop $15/mo compared to my old focus.
