Default Seat Heaters

Finally got my xB back last night. The seat heaters work nicely, but I wasn't ready for the difference in seat feel. I guess that's a factor of putting them under the cloth seat covers. If you want to know what it feels like, rip off a notebook cover and stick it behind your lower back. Not terrible, but takes a little getting used to. I suppose you don't feel them as much with leather. Oh well, I'm hoping they "break in" after a while. Otherwise I might have to look into aftermarket seat covers or something.

Just something to be aware of for people who are thinking of adding them.

thanks for info... so basically there not as comfortable and the heated seats only on the lower back of the seat what about your butt part of the seat? also are there levels of heat or is it on an on/off basis? do they work well other than the discomfort issue?

The butt part feels ok. I guess it's a little firmer than before, but it was the back part that bothered me. They work great, the warmth feels nice, especially in the super cold weather we've been having.

There is a lighted toggle switch, low, high and off. They installed the switches on the outside of the seats (on the plastic of the lower seat cushion), towards the front.

Any way to stick a layer of foam on top of it to soften it? Like a sheet or something of foam from a fabric store.

I'll see how much it bothers me in a week or so before I try to add more padding or whatever. As far as seat cooling systems, check this out:

You get used to it. I've had mine since November, and yes it was odd at first.

Yeah, boblamb58 is right. You do get used to it. Everything felt fine today, and it was nice to have the heat in the single-digit cold this morning.

Plus, I think my back was just sore from all the snow shoveling I've had to do lately. The heat actually helped with that I think.

So, I'm happy now.
