as long as you secure/install the chains correctly there shouldn't be any serious contact to harm your rim. howver, like andino said, putting your stockers on wont hurt, and itll help cool your nerves. but IMO you should be fine, even with your 18s

I didnt mean just use the steelies, I meant to use the chains or cables on the steelies not on his 18's!!!!! however I am using Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW3 i paid $93 a piece last year and they are still 3/4 tread and they have roughly 28,000 miles on them most of those miles are down in texas, louisiana, and mississippi. they are cheaper than the deductible for insurance...... plus if they are only being used accasionally they should last say 5 years.....

mmm...5 years would be a maximum i think....the properties of the rubber compound start to degrade and the tire will become weaker..but..yeah you should be good for 5 years. no more though haha

I like the Z cables, its a constant contact vs bump, bump, bump with the straight cable ones. The mud chains are another story.

I know we do not get much snow or ice in VA, but the cables work best for either and the surprise morning or afternoon or late night storm. Just got to recheck them and watch you speed or they will fling off and take your fender liner with them.
