Default Stock 18's in Snow?

anyone have the stock 18" Enkeis w/ the Pirelli P Nero tires for the TC and drove in snow. Is this a completely bad idea. I am thinking of getting a set of the stock 17's for the nasty winters here in WI.

If the roads in WI are anything like the roads here in Vermont, especially by the end of the winter, then I'd recommend going with a 15" or maybe 16" wheel and a higher-profile tire. Snow tires work better if you run a slightly lower pressure in them, but that easily results in damaged rims if you're running low-profile tires and hit a pothole.

Besides, snow tires for 15" rims are a lot cheaper than ones for 17" rims.
