i know, with this $3.54/gallon gas, it's like they're giving it away for free!
Pfft. Southern California my friend. We pay $3.95 a gallon. That's for regular, for a turbo he'll have to move up to the $4.09 gas.

wow your gas is way different than ours here in Texas. We are looking at $3.55 for low and $3.80+ for high. I find it interesting that the diff to premium is only 14cents where as in Texas it is always 25-30 cents..... occasionally the dif is 22cents but that is the least i have seen

yeah so with your commute you do 300 miles a week just going to and from work. with other errands and weekend miles im sure you travel 450 miles a week.

MS3 gets about 20 combined
xB2 about 24 combined
xD about 28 combined.

With $3.80 low and $4 premium 23k miles a year
xD - $264 / month on gas
xB - $308 / month on gas
MS3 - $390 / month on gas

so you're only spending $80 or so more a month on gas but could have been saving $125 a month if you got an xD.

Prius at 45mpg - $164 a month
with the way you drive a Prius makes a lot of "cents" save $230 a month, not to mention having to spend less on dates cause no girls want to go out in that car.

What i really want is someone that makes a turbo where you can actually put the thing in a normal mode and not use the turbo. So basically drive in a mode where the wastegate opens enough to allow only minimal boost (just enough to compensate for the low compression ratio turbos typically have). If done correctly you could get similar mileage to a non-turbo of the same size but then have the boost when you want it. I can kind of do this with my WRX right now if i drive it real timid. I can get 27mpg mixed if i drive like i only have about 100hp. With some electronics and some engineering i bet it could be better.

Except that as a female, myself and most of my girl friends LOVE the Prius. I have yet to find a cool chick that doesn't, and usually the ones who don't are after the Mercedes crowd, and even they nod towards the fact every celebrity and their mom is a driving one right now. If even Cosmo is mentioning it in relation to "whos who", it's a very "in" car at the moment. If I could've afforded it, I would've gotten one; I loooove driving them, dig the mpg, and the package 5 is comfty... A boy with a Prius can say two things - he's either jumping on the band wagon, or he's a smart one. I like smart boys. But I'm very happy with my bus and it gets better mpg than I expected with trying some hypermiling techniques. It brings a smile to my face every time I step outside and see it waiting for me there.

I am getting better MPG's in the mazdaspeed3 than I was getting in the xB. This is mostly do to the fact that I have been keeping out of boost, and not mashing it around town. My avg mpg is at 27.6 on the mazda, and the xB was 25.2 when i sold it.
I think the problem was that the xB felt so damn sluggish when driving it conservatively, that I had my foot on the accelerator more often than I should have.
Anyways........ I still have the stock wheels and tires (basically brand new), the factory radio, factory air box and piping, TRD radiator cap (unused), left hand side headlamp (1 broken tab), and the factory manual shift **** (sale pending) up for grabs. This ____ is useless to me so throw some offers my way and as long as they are not ridiculous I will accept them.

There was an interesting article i read once where they drove a prius around a track as fast as it would go, and kept an M3 behind it going around the track at the same speed. The v8 M3 got better mpgs than the flogged Prius
If only they could give me a 300hp small displacement turbo that would return in the 30s if driven conservatively... one of these days

Dude, I'm getting up close the the 30's,. I have been driving conservatively, but not over conscious about it. My next tank I will clock the number of miles I get and the amount I put in to fill up. All I know is that I'm looking to pull 360 miles off my second tank if I keep this up. Message me about the parts for sale guys/girls!
