Spoiler - Fiberglass vs ABS blow molded plastic
I found some aftermarket spoilers on Ebay, but there are 2 types. Fiberglass and ABS plastic (blow molded). I understand the ABS one is lighter, but I would think that the factory one is actually fiberglass. I found a unpainted glass one on ebay for $67 shipped. It appears to have 4 mounting holes and 4 bolts. Is this the same material and mounting design as the factory one?. Here is the link:

I need help understanding the differences in the glass vs abs, my goal is to get as close to factory as possible.

I look at it this way. Get the cheapest, durability is not a major concern. Not like you gunna be jumping up and down on the wing. It barely gets touched at all when you got a spoiler. I just ordered a fiberglass one off ebay for like 50 bucks. Not bad at all, and how much wear can you put on a spoiler really?
Plastic more durable than fiberglass? Not so sure about that. I do notice that the ABS ones (on ebay) have either foam tape application or 1 bolt on each side application. The fiberglass one I am looking at has 2 bolt application on each side and I think I read that the factory one has 2 bolt application on each side as well. That is why I was thinking the factory one is glass. Anyone have a factory one that can confirm if it is glass or not and 4 or 2 bolt application?
The factory 1gen xB spoiler is 2 bolt ABS. ABS generally has better fitment, and while not more durable is more impact resistant (it doesn't crack). Fiberglass is not as good for mass-production as it requires a lot more touch time and can vary in fitment from mold to mold, ABS can be injection molded and get the same part, every time, so outside of Corvette or botique cars, you're just not going to see fiber.
The spoiler shouldn't see a lot of impact, but how many riced out neons have you seen with cracked wings. Someone, at some point in time, will use it as a bar rail.
Bottom line, get ABS if available. Lighter, better fitment, more durable.

I took off my black stock one from the dealer and don't plan to put it back on. If someone is interested in it, shoot me a price and it's yours. It is currently located anywhere from Mountain House to San Jose CA.
