Got my flip key in the mail on Friday. Going to get mine cut at Lowes tomorrow. I read through quite a bit of the tC thread. They said to tell them the blank is a #35R. I'm guessing ours is the same for the xB? I'm surprised people are saying they got ones cut for free. Even though you don't have to buy the blank, why wouldn't the store make you pay for their labor and wear and tear on their machine? Anyways, my wife works at Lowes so I'm hoping she can get it hooked up for me. I'll report back.

w/c one did you get..? I got my keys cut at OSH, payed around $2.50ea. You are coorect keys are #35R but for TC keys you have remove the transponder chip, on the xB keys are different. I didnt see any transponder chip, Im guessing it is built in. I dunno I may be wrong.

I got this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/280743652030...S:3160&vxp=mtr

Its one of the only ones on ebay I could find that said it would definitely work with the xB. Didn't have any problems with Lowes cutting it and they did it for free. Putting the key back together was a little tough. Theres a torsion spring that fits on the inside of the key with a little metal collar. It has to be assembled in the correct order and I had to put the cover on and twist it a few times to get the spring to the right tension to get the key to flip out correctly.

The whole assembly seems pretty solid to me. I was worried that twisting it in my ignition would reveal that it wasn't solid but it does really well. The only thing that bothers me is the attachment to put it on a keyring. I have a really small key ring but it doesn't fit very well. I may try to go to one of those ball chains like on a pen at the bank.

oh by the way, my xB doesn't have the scion security so no chip in the key. I think every xB is this way. Not sure why they put it in the tC's but not the box.

These are old threads, but they may be of some help. Not sure if the GiES273 is available anymore or not.

I tried the Gies key but did not like it. If I remember I had a real hard time getting my electronics to fit inside of it. They have to send a custom insert for it to hold the scion key board. Also, I felt like the buttons were very exposed on top (like the opposite of recessed) and they were always getting pressed accidentally when the key was in my pocket.
