Hi,

Yesterday my son was getting in the back of our 08 xB and there is something very sharp sticking out of the back of the drivers seat. Cut him right across the knee. If I feel around it, I can feel other metal around it - could this be a spring that has come undone? I checked my 15 xB and it doesn't have anything but open air on the inside of the back cover if you push it in. Any ideas? Is this a safety issue I should take in to Toyota and have them look at? My 08 is out of warranty. I could get a hammer and flatten the sharp part out, but I am concerned there might be more of this...

Yes, it is part of the seat back spring. Best bet would be to open up the seat back enough to get a pair of cutters in there and snip off the part that is sticking out. Had it happen on mine so I shipped it off when I was re-covering the seats.

Thanks Greg - I'll have to see how I can cut it off without tearing up the back of the seat!!
