Default Water Sheeting...?

Ok so what exactly is water sheeting?... I have the idea that when water falls on your car its suppose 2 drop right off... Thats what the wax I use is suppose 2 do... (Meguair's NXT GEN)

Well its been rainy these past few days... Like literally rain everyday at lease and every morning I have 2 wake up early and wipe down my xB (Black Sand Pearl Color) Becuz there is water spots allll over... Espcially on da hood and roof... The water stays in big puddles like on the roof...

So my question is... Isnt the wax suppose 2 prevent this? And if not what can? Im so sick of wiping my car down everrryyyy morning and sometimes having 2 wash it becuz the spots are dried on the car...

Was aides in allowing the water to not stay on the car. But if it's on a horizontal surface, it's going to stay there.

What are you using to wipe off rain/water from your car? I'd be a little weary of wiping off rain with anything. There can be dirt and dust in the rain. Then if you wipe it down, you'll get little micro scratches that you'll be able to see.

Escpecially in black.

When I wash my car, I always use a chamois. It may not be the best, but I do like it. It's one of the synthetic ones from walmart. I've worked at a body shop before and we always used the chamois or the california water wiper bladie thingamabob.

Agree with everything 100%

There's no way you can keep water from staying in every single place on your car, no matter what wax you use or how much you use it.

And yeah, wiping down your car that's wet from rain is a big scratch and swirl mark maker. My dad does this, and It makes me ache. He did it one time on one of my cars and I flipped out and he never did it again. And that car had mega swirl marks after he did it.

Even if you can't see it, there's gonna be dirt on your car. When it rains and you go to wipe that off, your going to drag that dirt back and forth all over your xB. What to do? Either let it be and live with it, or wash your car every time. Unless you don't care too much about swirl marks.

I second everything that was said here.

I personally never wipe down a car unless it is getting a wash. You will get tiny little molecules of dust/dirt on your car anytime, no matter where you keep it.

I did however, wash the box this weekend, then the neighbor put on his sprinklers and got one side wet. I used some of the Meguiars quick wash and a mf cloth and it cleaned it really nicely with almost no swirls.

LOL gotta love when neighbors do stuff right after you've washed your car. My neighbor's yard boy cut the grass one day right after I washed my car, it sits in the driveway right next to part of her yard. I wasn't very happy. One time when I was little our neighbor decided to paint his satellite dish (the old huge ones) silver with a spray gun. Overspray got all over my dad's new jeep. Lucky for my neighbor it came off.

After you wax your car there is an increase in surface tension because the wax fills in minor scratches and makes the surface more even. This is what makes water sheeting possible. Because there is a smoother surface there is less friction, so there are fewer particles/pitts for the water to hang on to on your car. Sheeting is basically getting the water drops heavy enough so gravity can take over and pull them towards the ground. So after it rains and there are drops on your car, you should take a hose with no nozzle, set it to a slow or moderate flow, and rinse it so the water gets taken down by gravity. You will have a few drops left over, just carefully wipe those off.

Look up meguiar's nxt test on youtube. Should be the first video.
