Default xB2 Road Trip: CA to FL (pic heavy)

After living in Southern California for my entire life, I will sadly be moving across the country. Tomorrow, with my cousin tagging along, I will be headed out to Florida to start a new job. Other than multiple drives between LA and San Francisco, this will be my first major road trip. I'm not sure what sights we'll see or adventures we'll have, but I'll try take some interesting pics along the way (with the Scion of course).

I don't have a bra for my xB, so I gave it a little tape job for some protection from rocks and whatever the South has to throw at me. The stock wheels and tires are also back on.

Beginning stage

Thank you. I'll pretty much be taking the 10 all the way, through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Congratulations. I wish you much success. I just made a big move- Phoenix to Austin. Be careful, between El Paso and San Antonio, there is not much to keep you alert and awake. Also, do not stop in Dragoon, Arizona to look at "The Thing"- very creepy and a waste of money.

Haha, I've heard about that "thing." Everyone is telling me to be careful in Texas, apparently they don't like us California kids.

I think the same is true in Arizona.

I set the cruise at 85 for 90% of the trip and average just over 28mpg. If I remember correctly, the speed limit in Texas and NM was 80 for cars.

I agree with Ocotillo, from El Paso-San Antonio there is nothing but dirt. It has been awhile for me but I don't recall alot of gas stations in that stretch. You won't even notice driving by Louisiana, Miss, Ala

The only thing I'd expect you to run into on route 10 is in the South-East starting around New Orleans -- bugs, bugs, bugs. However, given the time of year, it may not be so bad !

Good luck with the long trip! Is your cousin driving too or will he be your co-driver? I have had my box coast to coast last year, they are excellent road cars, lowering helps with the drafts of wind and from semis, lol... What part of FL are you going to, Daytona perhaps?

He's going to drive a little bit, still a rookie at a stick shift. I'll be moving to the Tampa Bay area.

FYI... Hwy 10 across the pan-handle of Florida.... they are watching closely. Ground & air. I got it for doing 72 in a 70. OUCH!

Have a great time, smooth trip and enjoy the sweet new job!

P.S. You SUCK! JK LOL
