Default XB2 winter drivng

I was just wondering how did your XB2 handle recent snowfalls in some parts of the country. Did you have any ground clearance issues?

Has anybody taken their box to ski resorts?

Are you saying XB2 is not good for ski trips at all?

Front wheel drive FTW in the snow! Why do you think cops in New York have FWD V-6's instead of RWD V-8 Crown Vics?

May not be good for ski trips involving 2-3 feet of snow...

you should have no problems taking the xb to resorts. i did it last year and had no problems at all. the only thing i can say is that the rear of the car likes to walk out a bit while driving on off camber roads. watch your speed and pay attention to the conditions and you will be just fine.

With the right tires (snow tires, that is), you should be fine. Anything is going to have problems in 2 to 3 feet of snow though, unless you are driving a monster truck.

I must say, my car is popping, creaking, and making the most obnoxious noises these past few days, especially today with it being 0*F with windchills up to -25/-30... It doesn't like it! Can't wait for summer so I can have a quiet car again! haha

Yeah, the stock tires for me do extremely well. No need for snow tires. Car is super secure as is.

you must drive like a granny and never leave 30 mph rear end kicked up many times on the stock tires! my step bro also has a 08xb and his kicked out on him on an interstate..... There is tons of posts on here about how much the stock tires suck!

Do all xB's come with the same tires?

I actually drive faster then most anyone on freeways during snow storms because of how well the car keeps control. I never had the back end get away from me.

I have a hard time even forcing the car to loose control due to the ESC in snowy parking lots.

Maybe, just maybe it always has to do with the skill of the driver as well... How you approach stops, acceleration or coast in turns, etc. Those are all factors.

The xB though is by far the most stable car I have driven in the snow.

i have studded snow tires on all four corners.on my 2nd gen,
handles like a dream!
the one thing i did have a problem with was the ground clearance but we also got about 2 feet of snow in places. never got stuck and drive tires were chained up.
other than feeling the snow on the floorpans drove like a dream! defintly handles alot better than my first gen thats been in the driveway now for four days...lol
but my 1st gen is also on s-techs.
have fun and be safe.

So, do you leave the traction and skidd control on or off? I read somewhere in the manual for mud and snow you should turn it off. I havent tried it on snow or ice, but for gravel and rain, I drive like I stole it with no problems on oem tires.

I have gone to the mountain twice this season so far and the roads where not the best (including snow and ice packed), but when that ESC kicks in, the cars picks right back where it left off... this is the best handling car I have ever owned even with OEM tires still! I am going up to the four corners for Christmas and plan on running into quite a bit of snow and am really interested in seeing how it handles. All in all its been great!!
