Best aftermarket Setup; Springs/Shocks/Struts"IYO"
Hey whats up everyone, I was wondering if there is anyone that had Aftermarket (Tanabes Df210 Specifically) Springs with TRD shocks Struts.
Has anyone done this and if so what differences do you notice, did your drop get lower? and do you have pics?TRD states that the Shocks Struts would work with TRD lowering Springs and/or Stock Springs only...
I hope i can get some great feed back, as always! I am really considering throwing those on with my DF210's.
Thanks
P.S.
Cionide; I tried Searching but received no results

bigfieroman put some Eibach springs on his xB with the TRD shock/struts.
New shock and struts will not make your car go lower. The stroke of the shock is adjusted to compensate for the shorter springs. The valving in the shocks/struts are also better than stock (at least they should be). Sometimes high performance shocks and struts may be a little stiffer.
I've been on stock struts with the Hotchkis springs (and in my experiences, the Hotchkis are lower than the DF's, I don't care what any specs say.). No problems whatsoever.

Ok I changed the topic Header and I am now posing the question what does everyone think is the best Strut/Shock and spring aftermarket setup for the xB2?
This is besides coilovers.
I was planning on going with some TRD shocks and Tanabes df210's(great drop and best ride imo)I also looked into the tokico Shocks and struts but i have not heard to much about these...any thought?

Well what is considered the "best" setup? One that actually helps handling or one that looks+feels good? Even then, it would hard to be give an answer. Most springs lower too much and aren't stiff enough so they usually make handling worse than stock (in theory, since MacPherson struts don't like to have over 1 inch drops and since progressive springs are not so easy to predict), and nobody has any real information on the dampers because most people either haven't tried them, and even if they have, they have no way of giving real information since no one knows how either are valved (and they give vague descriptions like "stiffer") and the way they are valved determines which is the best, because dampers have to be valved in accordance with the spring.

Its really not a difficult question, The best set up in ones persons opinion would be what they have experienced. I believe you are over thinking the simplicity of the question @ hand. Yes people will have different opinions and yes they are different products out there and you are absolutely right it really derives from the people who have tried a performance set up.(other than coilovers)
FromtheOLD;What's your setup?
So if there is any one out there in scionlife who has swapped their Springs/Struts/Shocks on a xb2 for a performance setup, I would like to what was your experience? and what was the combo.
I got that Bigfieroman used Eibach springs with Trd Shocks,( dont know yet what differences he has noticed from stock and if he has seen any improvements i will PM him.)
I don't believe anyone has tried the tokico shcks yet as I roam this forum, clubxb, scikotics, newscionxb quite a bit in my free time. They even could just be replacement struts/shocks which would hardly change a thing in terms of feel or performace.
The trd shock set is supposed to be stiffer and would probably be a great match for the trd, hotchis, roadmagnet, h&r, or prokit if performance is what you are after. The df210, sprint, and sportline spring line ups are geared for show not go.
Even the nf210 is meant to just lower the car slightly, and not make huge differeces in performance. It is thier comfort lineup. If you notice on tanabes website they even claim themselves that neither thier df or nf are performance oriented and offer a different lineup called the gf210 for people wanting the best handling without having to calculate thier own spring rates or go coilover. They do not offer these springs for our cars yet, and I doubt they probably will.
The best handling setup you can get your hands on right now would be the cusco coilover setup if your willing to fork out the $1300 or so for the set. We dont have enough choices in springs/shocks to properly match the spring rates to shock valving. Once an adjustable shock/strut is released then we can expect to see great handling shock/spring setups, until then cusco or ksport for the win.

I wanted some performance struts/shocks to stiffen it just a bit more.
Well if say you have the df210 setup and think it feels nice and it doesnt bounce or have any bad handling characteristics, changing the shocks would be a waste of money. You want to go to a firmer valved shock when the car feels bouncy.
If your stock now with the curret offerings on the market, and you dont want to jump on a set of coilovers. Just pick a spring and your done. Honestly you should just try to match the wheels to the drop and keep in mind how many people or how much extra weight you carry reguarly. Heck if you do buy shocks+springs you could have almost bought a set of ksports.

I agree if you want something temp, dont waste you $$ on struts because the coilover you will be saving for will be matched for the spring and give you way more in the long run. Im sure you already know this. I believe in doing things right the first time and not spending all my cash on things Im going to change soon anyway. sorry if I sound like a dad but Ive been through it before...

"I went from trds springs to Sprint and now Df210(which im currently really happy with). Coil overs are the way to go but I don't have 1000+ to fork out at this time in the 2xb savings lol, i wanted something temp.

Was the ride too low and rough on the Sprints? I would save your money till you can afford what you really want. Just remember a stiffer ride might not bounce as much but can be very harsh esp on 19s.

Yeah a little to harsh...loved the drop, unfortunately i drive daily on the 57, 60 and 10 freeway about 50 miles.
im saving for other parts at the same time (5 axis, Euro carbon hood and the DL series CF spoiler ;) i figure i can get a great deal on some struts without forking out 1K for a set of coilover (at least for now.)
