Default Compatiable brakes

Ok I was thinking the other ngiht, I know how some parts are compatible in between car companys models.

Like on my old car, a 3000gt you could get a few parts and upgrade to the twin turbo brakes on the better model. Not sure who all knows them. But the VR4 is the best model and has bigger brakes and you can swap them.

Anyways what I am asking is can you swap any kits that are larger then our xb2 brakes? Like do tc's have a bigger standard kit that isn't big brake. A in between.

Or from the supra or anything of that sort. I know might seem somewhat odd. If I didn't explain it well enough let me know.

How big are the rav4's? And how big are ours? I wouldn't mind something in the 11-12 inch range. As long as price is worth it for me.

IMO, if you're gonna go through part of the trouble in upgrading brakes, might as well go all the way and get a BBK.

I am trying to cut cost and need even. BBK is not needed and the cost is a lot. If I could get a bigger brake set to keep me happy so when I wanna push the car I can, but not spend the money on something outrageous and meant for the track like a BBK.

Like my 3000gt had smaller brakes for the base then the VR4. But to get some used parts to swap it over looking lik 400-500 area depending on the deals you can find.

For "performance" braking without burning a hole in the pocket would be to invest in some performance brake pads. Alot of people use TRDs and EBCs. To top that, you can swap out the OE rotors with Rotora rotors which are OE size. There's a few more companies that make OE sized rotors but Rotora is the only one I know off the top of my head.

I'm not an EBC fan.

Depends on what you're looking for. I do touge runs once in a while but for the most part, my car is meant to be a reliable commuter.

For instance, I would not do big brakes since I do not track race my car, but I would do performance pad/rotor upgrades because I do spirited driving.

Rav 4 pads are the same as our brakes so I would imagine the rotors and calipers are similar specifications.

yeah, the answer is no. think about it. does toyota build any high performance cars? all they have are the lexus is-f and lf-a. they don't build any sports cars or even have really sporty versions of any of their existing vehicle lines. they have the camry se and the tacoma x-runner.

better rotors and pads are really all you need. and the stock set-up on the toyotas and scions aren't bad either, they do a great job as is.

I'm still stock. I still have more than 50% padlife left.

When I do run out, I'm planning on getting Hawk pads (provided they make them by then) and regrinding my stock rotors.

I found this:

Make Model Submodel Year Range Position
PONTIAC VIBE 2009-2009 FRONT
SCION xB 2008-2009 FRONT
SCION xD 2008-2009 FRONT
TOYOTA COROLLA 2009-2009 FRONT
TOYOTA MATRIX 2009-2009 FRONT
TOYOTA RAV4 2006-2009 FRONT

Make Model Submodel Year Range Position
PONTIAC VIBE 2009-2009 REAR
SCION xB 2008-2009 REAR
TOYOTA COROLLA 2009-2009 REAR

These cars share the same brake pads as we do.

The supra? The mr2. Doesn't have to be current current. Sometimes you can see past models fit with other cars.

i didn't say they never built a sports car dude. but those cars are not even close to the scion or most of the cars i toyota's line up. front engine rear wheel drive sports car, and a mid-engined rear wheel drive car, completely different drivetrain and suspension components.

the scion tc's brakes came from the last generation celica GT-S's brakes, which was the last "sporty" car toyota made.

the reason why the parts from the top end mitsubishi 3000gt and the lower spec models is because they are the same car, but the top end models had better upgraded components, and awd and one or two turbo. i'm sure you can put a twin turbo engine from the vr4 into the low end base model, and make it AWD with minimal complications, but heck, it would be unbelievably difficult to put a different engine in a scion, even if it was from another toyota.

i know that it is also extremely easy to upgrade subaru's with better parts from their WRX and STI upgrades. heck, you can even mix and match some between the legacy, impreza, forester and so on, you're even able to put new and improved parts from current models onto the older models to some extent. but that is because subaru has pretty much one drivetrain under all their models.

Are these available yet. That's my idea to use stock rotors with these pads

I understand that, thats why I was asking. I am looking at 19s and just didn't want dinky sized brakes lol. But couldn't justify the need for a BBK

Yeah they're available. You can get them from raceshopper.

HB627F.690 HAWK HPS BRAKE PADS $73
HB629F.565 HAWK HPS BRAKE PADS $59

These would go excellent with my lightweight RX-7 16x8's - when I also get 225/50/16 Falken RT-615's.
