Default How to Remove Front Rotor on 09xB2?

I did a search and well didn't come up with much on the xB2.

It seems that the large hub bolt is holding on the front brake rotor. I was going to have the rotors turned with my new pads I'm installing.

Am I missing something. It really looks like that large hub bolt has to come off. It looks like a 12pt bolt somewhere around 1 1/4" or so.

Thanks for quick answers. I was needing this done today.

17mm bolts behind removes caliper and piston assembly all together and the rotor will just slip out unless it is rusted but a rubber mallet will do the job

are you sure the rotor/disk is not held down by the hub bolt in the center. it looks seamless. I gave some taps with a deadblow hammer but no movement.

it is not held by the hub trust me on that i have changed many Scion XB rotors it wont budge if the pads are still on it. you need to remove the caliper and piston assembly and then hit it with a rubber mallet all around and it will come off. like i said if the hub looks rusted then it will be super tight but the mallet will take care of that

If the mallet dont work there should be 2 threaded holes. Find a bolt that fits, screw it in til u hear a pop. Dnt be afraid its just the rotor breaking free.

Had to do this on my GFs tC, the rotors wouldnt budge

or just put some heat to the hub where the rotor meets up with in and it will loosen when you hit it with the mallet

This. I am 1000000000000000000000000000% positive that the bolt in the center does NOT hold the rotor in place.

You could even use a little PB Blaster on the hub snout and rotor.

well I got the rotors off, the bolt seem to make light of the situation. I guess my dead blow hammer was a bit to gentle. I've worked on many cars and I just can't believe how the rust had looked like a smooth weld.

well thanks for your help and confidence, it made me question myself to get the job done.

tomorrow~have them turned and re-install.
