Default Tanabe DF's or NF's...

Hey everyone...I am being indecisive...

I'm not sure what I'm wanting, however I do love how both look!
I'm trying to decide between the NF and DF springs from Tanabe. Both Look great.

This is the problem.

I'd like to lower the car, however i'm not sure about the life of the shocks on the car. I just traded my tC in for my new xB. the tC was lowered on the very conservative TRD springs. Drop was good on stock shocks. BUT with the box I'm wanting to go lower with the Tanabes, but i'm concerned about the life of the Shocks.(i know i should get coilovers BTW). I feel like i'm driving a lifted 4x4 moving from the tC to the box without lowering it!!!

I love how 17s look on the box...possibly 18s. but leaning towards 17s. I'm really impressed by dUnits box on 17..Racing Harts.

Just asking for some advice...thanks in advanced everyone!

If you get 17's i say DF's... 18's are middle ground NF's look good, but DF's are more agressive... I have 16's with DF's and they still have a good size gap and ride...

To me, the most important thing is what size tires you plan on running? I went with a 45 series tire and the nf's The taller sidewall gives the appearance of having a larger drop than I really have. It is sort of an illusion because I and others tend to compare the tire height and sidewall height with the amount of gap left in the fenderwell. If you have very low profile tires your eye tends to compare the very short side wall with the amount of fender gap and if the gap is larger than the sidewall height, it doesn't look right imho.

I just put 18's on the other day with 225/40/18 and I have the DF's on stock shocks and I could still go down another inch or so..

Depending on the offset of your wheels, you could have gone with 225/45 tires and accomplished what wrczx3 is talking about with the optical illusion of sidewall height vs. gap b/w the tire and fender.

Or you could just get rid of the DF's in favor of coilovers.

I would NEVER think of getting rid of mine, but for people who want to go REALLY LOW it's either coilovers or air bags.

I wish I was a rep. for Tanabe, because then I'd be getting paid for all the time I spend on SL.

They should be hooking you up for all the referals you give for their springs... At the very least a fruit basket...

I want a Tanabe front strut tie bar, not a fruit basket.

I'd be very worried about 245/30-20's rubbing up front. Not only are they really wide for the front, they're 1" larger in overall diameter. The diameter wouldn't be an issue with narrower tires and the right offset wheels.

What size and offset are your wheels?

Here's a link to a thread that has pictures, and talks about tire sizes, for 20's on NF210's:
