TRD springs fading/rusting?
I got a little over 30k miles on my xB with the TRD springs installed since day one. I was checking them out while swapping my rims and noticed that the top of the coil on certain spirals had a rust line in the middle. Not sure if the powdercoats are peeling or if the spring is rusting, is this normal?
Springs rust because of the material they are made out of, and powdercoating is meant to prevent rust. Powderingcoating is better than paint, but in the end, itll eventually chip away and the springs will start rusting, but I wouldn't worry about it. Not to mention springs are cheap to replace.
Unless it looks like the rust is affecting the integrity of the spring, I wouldn't worry about it. Those parts rub, even the best powdercoating will chip off over time. If you're really obsessed with it, take it off, sand off the rust, and hit it with some POR-15 or Eastwood Rust Encapsulator type paint.
