Default Another Newbie 18" Fitment Question

Hello y'all

I've been jonesing a toaster for many months and the RS 9.0's Hot Lava color just sent me over the edge. Bloomin' STIFFY!

So, I'm looking at some Motegi MR122s but need your seasoned advise.
Can I fit 18x9 35+ all around shod with 235/40s without contact or rolling the fenders? On the eyed Continental ExtremeContact DWS rubber the measured rim width is spec'd at 8" with sectional width of 9".
Initially suspension will be stock but I can see mild drop springs in my near future too. As a former road racer and coming off mostly HO RWD my driving style is spirited.
I might be willing to go 18x8 and/or spacers before losing concave by going to 45+.
Anybody running 255/35 ?...

Thanking you in advance for your input.
Regards,
-GDubya in Memphis

I'm sure you'll rub at that width...Stick with the 235/40's Contenitals DWS's and I would'nt push it past 8 width. Just my 2 cents...

Plus take a look at the 18' Wheel thread for other setups...

Depending on how low you want to go, you should be fine with a 225/40R18 tire. Running that wide of a wheel, with that offset, will require stretched tires. You could get away with a 235/40R18, but may be pushing it, especially if you don't want to roll fenders.
I'm running 19x9.5's +25 all the way around with 225/35R19's. However, I'm running coilovers and also rolled and slightly pulled my rear fenders.

Since you're a road racer, look into the Tanabe NF210 springs and the Hotchkis sway bar set. NF210's may be a little too soft, but the TRD's are marginally stiffer.

Problem is I've been lurking that thread and others for so long that the numerous different set ups are starting to blur.

I take it the 18x9s are too tight in the front, yes?
From what I'm gleaning, I don't think I want a stretched look just to achieve clearance. So maybe 18x8 is the ticket...

And, I have to correct myself that the 235/40ZR18 DWS are 8.5" measured rim and 9.5" sectional widths.

I also have a friend running 19x9.5 +45mm up front with a 235/35R19 tire. No real rubbing. Maybe a little on the fender liner, and that's it. He's running DF210 springs, too.
