Hey guys,

New to the Scion Game.

Been looking at Scions for the past 3 years and finally found one and bought it.

2008 Scion XB White, 5spd.

I'm really excited to start modding.

A little background on me, I owned an EP3 That I turned into this






(all genuine Honda Type R Parts from the Carpet, to the bumpers/rebar, Floor Mats, seats, door panels, even the centre unit I imported from the UK, Yes those are Work Emotion CR-Kai's NOT Knockoff Rotas ;) GOD I miss her now )
I've been reading and reading and reading and I've decided to go with either the NF210 Tanabe Springs, or the DF210, I've been trying to see a comparison of the two but haven't had any luck just yet.

I am also thinking of doing the five axis kit, (I already have the wing) and then a set of 17" Rims.

I haven't been able to find a good idea of what tire size and offset I should go with just yet.

I'm thinking of going with Gram Light 57Pro or Classic Volk TE37 in Gunmetal or Bronze.

Any Advice on the springs, tire size and offset would be great guys. Thanks a lot in advance

HAHHH... I know I've read so many of his posts, him and D-Unit really have the right idea.

The setup D-Unit had with his works and lowered on NF210s was sick.

I'm a dumby when it comes to offsets and tire sizes though, and this is a whole new ball game for me so thats why I look to you guys!

It really depends on how low you want to go. I've installed numerous DF210's and everyone has loved them. NF210's are nice if you want something more conservative, of course.
I've been on my Hotchkis springs for about 3 years now and love them.

As far as 17's go, I'd run 17x8's in the front with +35 and 17x9's in the rear with +35. You could go more aggresive if you wanted to. However, looks like the TE37s I'm looking at only come in a 17x9 +22. That would certainly work with NF210's and maybe a mild fender roll. Front I'd run ghte 17x8's with +33.
Tire sizes I'd keep in the 245/40 for rear and 225/40 for the front. Tire sizing is slightly larger than stock, but should help with filling fender gap with the NF210's.

severedvegan nailed it... 17x8 +35 front, and 17x9 +35 rear wheels, are just about perfect IMO if you go with NF springs and want a staggered set-up. (I hate wheel poke and/or stretched tires.) Wheel & tire size will really depend on what drop you get, and what size/offsets are available for the wheels you finally choose.

FYI: I'm on NF springs with 18x8 +30 rear wheels, and 245/40 tires. If I hit a decent bump or dip, or have a couple hundred pounds of cargo or passengers, I rub. Fortunately those situations are rare for me.

I've definitely read through that thread and have seen your setup. I'm feeling like I want something a tad bit lower. That's why I was considering the df210s however I don't want to sacrifice ride quality as this will be a grocery getter for the most part. That's another reason why I'm only going to roll with the 17s. Never really had to deal with a staggered set up before that's why I'm asking for info. Thanks for the info hopefully someone can post a pic of df210s on stockies

This may be the dumbest question ever but can I run 5x112 or would the rims have to be re-machined for 5x114.3

I scowered the forums and found lots of pics of the DF210s and I'm thinking thats the route I want to go with.

The drop seems to be perfect for what im looking for. Just wondering on the comfort vs the NF210s and the S-Techs.

I hate s-techs on my EP3 and I felt like they were pretty stiff, i also had a engine strut, rear strut and sway bar that I installed all at once, so it might not have been the s-techs specifically..

You may have already seen this thread, but it shows that the NF and DF spring rates are fairly close, while the S-Techs are a bit stiffer.

You also mentioned your xB being a "grocery getter" so you might want to go with the same size wheel/tire combo at all 4 corners. On a FWD car a staggered set-up is really all about looks, and it removes the ability to fully rotate your tires. If you want the rears to match the fronts for how flush they are to the fenders, you could always add 10-15mm rear spacers depending on the wheel width and offset that you finally choose.

The reason why I ask because the tires I'm buying are 18x7.5 +45 offset, and I want to buy spacers for it to be flush. Based on that chart for stock ride height I would need 25mm spacers for the front and 40mm for the rear does that sound about right?

The difficulty however is that I will be on DF210s :S

Any advice on if it will fit, and what spacers to get for a flush look?

No, it doesn't apply to the xB2, it's for the 1st-gen tC.


No, you need 20mm front spacers, and 35mm rear spacers.


You'll need stretched tires to keep from rubbing on DF springs if you flush out the wheels. On a 7.5" wide wheel, that means pretty narrow tires... something like 205/45-18 should do it. Worst case scenario would be the need for a minor fender roll if you have any rubbing.


I'd look for slightly wider tires, or lower offset wheels, so that you don't need front spacers. I'm not of fan of front spacers on FWD daily drivers; the front hubs already have to deal with the stresses of both driving & steering the front wheels, so I don't like adding another set of nuts & bolts to the mix. Just my .02 for what little .02 is worth.

Thanks for the input Cionide, I know what you mean about the spacers, I'm not a huge fan of them neither, but I really want these wheels, I couldn't pass up the price!... Ok So I'll do 20MM in the front and 35MM spacers in the back and a 205/45 tire. Can't wait to finally lower and get these on!

How bad would it be with a 205/40 tire?

I don't want to rub and i don't really want to roll the fenders either.. what do you think?

Thanks man, and honestly, I don't know ____ all about tires, offsets, sidewalls, width or anything so I'm struggling with tire sizes and such. I want to do it right the first time

Great car. What do you mean real?? I know there was one or two type r in the states was one yours? Save for the type r engine and gauges I had all type r parts from either japan or Europe :D
