Frozones Getting Serious 18 or 17
So if you ask cionide i have been pestering him for months now. only got about two more months before the dough is here.
If you don't know my car

There you go
So since i found them at a decent price im stuck between 17-18s
I love to drive. I take turns hard and accelerate hard all day. and will be doing hotchkis sways, drops (looking at h-tech). So i really want to improve the handling of the car. I heard the bigger the rim that apparnetly the handling and comfort goes down a bit. but i've heard that 18s can improve the handling on our cars...so idk whats going on. Personally i like 808s post here
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...132855&page=13
I like how the tires sit mad tight and flush on the box. and his are 17s. but i wont be dropping that low. i do like the agressive look there, love the fat tites. soooooo
here are my options
Rims 1 i would get if i got 17s
Rim 2 is only available in 18. but i might go that way depending on the feedback i get.
As far as tires. I had the 912s before and they did well but were bald due to my driving at 20k. So who knows i may go again. or the UHP generals.
But i've also heard good things about the Nakang ns-1 (17) and 235/40/18s nakang ns-II (2)
and given the price they might be a good summer tire seeing as my funds aren't really that high and i will be dying after his purchase lol.
Rim 1 (17s and available in 1 (RIM is 817, black with blue lip
http://discounttires.com/detail_whee..._category=BLUE
Black center blue lip.
Rim 2 (18 only) Rim is 511 (blue/black)
http://discounttires.com/detail_whee..._category=BLUE
So wonderful people of SL. Choose my fate and give ur input on which setup u like better. 17 or 18s and what not about the tires there.
plus hopefully this site will mount n balance the tires/rims so i don't gotta do it here. then again i am taking the tpms out of the steelies and putting them in the nice ones.
Capn BK out.
For some reason the links failed

You couldn't pay me to put Chinese tires on my ride. Save up a little more and buy a better quality tire than Nankangs (you get what you pay for especially with tires). Also I'd go with 18s, I currently have 17s and kinda wished I had gone with the larger ones.

Well Handling/Comfort has more to do with the tire than the wheel it self. Generally more sidewall = comfort and decrease handling (Sidewall Flex), less sidewall = better handling and decrease comfort (less sidewall to absorb road imperfections and what not).
Id personally go with 18" as i am in the market for 18" wheels myself. Im a bit more specific in what im looking for as in 8.5" wide wheel or even 9.5" wide with enkei RPF1's.
But good luck with your choice and remember its not what we like its what you like.

true. i just wish i could photoshop a picture of either on my car. i've heard a lot of owners saying they wished they coulda gone 18s. so im really leaning towards that. now with the size tire. as much as i love ripping through corners there are alot of days where i do just drive like a normal human, and the reason im looking at the nankangs is because i just need the tires on the rims. for that price it wont hurt really to try them. if they die after 8,000 miles or so. then ok. lesson learned. If they work out great like some people have told me then booyakah to me.

18x8 +38 will sit back from dead flush about 1/4" up front, and a bit more in the rear; it'll be good. Stick with 225/40-18 tires for cost, selection, availability, and so you don't rub when you lower it.

would 225- 45-18 rub?
or 235 40(45) 18-
in checked in with some places around here. and the net so availibity is cool i can can get them really anywhere.
also i remember hearing that tire size can effect mpg so factoring in that too. what would be the ideal tire.

Well I can't say this here without it getting bleeped out...lol...so I'll say the following instead...
if you're looking for performance, take a look at what a lot of pro's use. You generally dont see anything larger than a 17" wheel...and most stay between a 15-16". But as far as for most street vehicles... I've seen a lot go with a nice looking 17, because it's kind of a good middle ground between still getting decent performance and a larger diameter wheel. Plus especially with as hard as you say you drive, with a larger wheel than 17's and you're gonna go broke having to buy tires as often is you'd have to. With 17s at least with a good tire and driving decent you have a good chance of getting 30K plus out of a set. The larger the wheel diameter, the lower the mileage you'll get out of each set, the heavier they'll be (generally), so performance goes down from that too. From what I've personally seen, the difference even between 17s to 18s can easily be a pound or more heavier per wheel.
that's just my 2 cents... not hating on the larger wheels. I think they can look really nice especially 18s... but for the driving I do and where I live, 18s aren't practical and low mileage on the tires combined is too many negatives for me to get them.
