Noisy Toyo Proxes 4's
I first wast to say thanks CIONIDE for all your help.
So I finally got my new wheels and tires. I went with 18X8 TSW Sakata 5's with 225/45/18 Proxes 4's . I had the Proxes 4's 235/35/19's on previously and they were very noisy. I told my Wheel rep this and he said that it was due to the lack of sidewall and that with the larger sidewall of the 18's it would not be an issue. Well that's not the case. The new ones are just as loud as the old ones. Has anyone out there had this same issue?
I know that the Proxes 4 is a great high performance tire but I am looking for ride quality and not performance. Any ideas on a tire that would work better. I was looking at the Nitto Invo's but I just don't know what's best. Thanks again for all your help.

I have falken ZE 912 tires that I bought with lower road noise in mind. They are quieter than the stock Bridgestone Turanza EL4200, which I actually thought weren't too loud. I only put 13.5k miles on the stock tires before moving up to the 205/50/17 Falkens. I stuck with a 205 width for fuel economy, road noise, and the fact that my 17" rims are only 7" wide. I like them. and recommend you at least take a look at them.
btw one reason I didn't consider the Proxes tires was that I've read some things about them being noisy.

The Falken 912's can be fully rotated, and are less expensive than the Falken FK452, but I mention the 452's because they were specifically developed as a luxury performance tire combining good ride quality with quietness and handling. They are uni-directional and can only be rotated front to rear or visa-versa. I believe they are also a little softer compound, so not quite as long lasting.

[quote="CIONIDE"]Thanks, what springs did you end up going with?[/quote
I wanted the NF210's but they are back ordered so I am getting the Eibach Pro Kit. I hope the 1.2" rear drop will be enough. Have you heard anything about the Pro kits?

rockthebeef has tried them both; here's what he had to say:

The result is a nicer looking car, but the Eibachs handled better. The NFs feel pretty luxurious in comparison and as a consequence I have more body roll now than with the Pro-Kit. I'll take the lower drop and cushier ride of the NFs though. I think it suits the car better. Maybe I'll upgrade my sway bar to the Hotchkis set in the future.

Yes, 18x7.5 +48 offset wheels, with 225/45-18 tires. Tires will most likely be Falken 912's or Pirelli Pzero's so that I can fully rotate. I like the Falken's more, but they are over 3 pounds heavier at each corner than the Pirelli's.
I also plan on running 15mm rear spacers so that the rears match the fronts for flushness. I know this set-up won't be flush with the fenders, but the front & rear will be about the same. I'm going with 225/45 tires to get back 1/2" more sidewall for ride comfort, and to fill out the tire/fender gap another 1/2" as compared to stock. That's the reason I want to tuck a little, and not be flush with the fenders. Rubbing is not an option for me.
Don't ask about which wheels, because they're JDM special order that are really hard to come by in the particular size I want, and I may not be able to get them. Time and $$ will tell. I still have about 10-15k miles on my OEM Goodyear RS-A's before I make the move, unless I win the lottery. (That would also require getting off my a$$ and leaving the computer to buy some lottery tickets.) I know many people hate the RS-A's, but mine have served me well for 25k miles already and are less than 1/2 worn. The fact that 20k miles of my driving have been on freeways in sunny California may contribute to my relative satisfaction.
Thanks for asking.

Thanks again for the help your information helped me realize that I would not of be as happy with Eibachs as I will with NF's.
