Offroad 2008 XB
I know the xb isnt meant for offroad but I was thinking it would be cool to make it a little more capable over rought terrain. Not thinking of installing rear wheel drive or anything, but what about putting larger tires and/or raising the xb? I know larger tires would need the odometer to be recalculated (i dont know how to do that) and that a higher car would mean less sporty ride, but I was thinking it would be nice to add a few inches of clearance from the 5 inch to 7 or so. That way you could at least clear stuff. Some 2 wheel drive vehicles do fairly well offroad because of their clearance. I was surprised how well my dads 2wd ranger handled an offroad trail.
Anyone ever do this, any ideas? It might look like a small toyota FJ

the newer xB's are far more capable than the first gen, however you have to realize it is FWD and it wont do as well as your dads 2wd ranger, because the ranger is RWD.
however, with its 2.4liter engine, some motor work, a 2-3" lift, skid plates, maybe some 33" tires, you could do some off roading, and i think it would look pretty cool too.

i took my gen1 off roading with the stock tires/suspension.. i know the gen2 is different but may have similar problems.. the damage i had was the winshield cracked from the stress of the frame and chassis

We had snow one year here in SC (rare occassion). I had an S-10 at the time and it wouldn't move. My wife's FWD Intrepid drove like there was no snow (at low speed of course).

If you painted it brown it would kinda look like the A-TEAM van "I pity da foo" but smaller. I kinda like the idea too, and front wheel drive vehicles do really well in the snow actualy and as stated above, there's more weight over the tires. Take a close look at this one, you can see the engine is still pretty close to stock he eight
Wow, nice scion. It doesnt look 4x4 though...
Snow isnt really an issue for me... i live in hawaii. One thing i was thinking about recently was that should i have to drive through deep water more clearance is better. Not going to take it to the beach or anything but sometimes certain roads here flood a bit.

i dunno this idea seems pretty stupid why wouldnt u just get a different car/truck if u want to go offroading. I dont think the 08 xb was really designed or meant for that. I wouldnt waste the money on the mods for that.
