Default RMOMROX's Scion FlexB RS7.0 (Rims are on/Pics Added/07-03-10)

I have been wondering what the Ford Flex rims would look like on the xB so I found a set on Craigslist today...Was able to scoop them up for $200 and they are in PERFECT condition...These are going on the wife's RS7.0...The specs are as follows:

Rim Size - 18x7.5
Offset - +39
Center Bore - 67.1

I'm going to run a 235/40/18 tire...

Won't be able to put them on for a little while but I did set it on the ground up against the rear to see what it would look like...Here is a quick pic...I will update once I get these mounted up...I will be painting her calipers at the same time...

Fender clearance looks completely F'd on the mock-up pic. Need to see it actually mounted with wheels & tires. Hope she loves it, 'cause I know you've been looking for something that looks good since you/she got the xB. Best wishes.

Cionide and I cleared things up and there won't be any fender clearance probs...I guess from the pic it was hard to tell but to clarify I just set the rim on the ground next to the rear rim (you can see the stocker hiding behind it) so with the specs I listed I should be good to go...Now I just need to decide which size tire to run...Either a 225/40/18 or 235/40/18...Like Cionide said, the 225 is cheaper and more available...Decisions, decisions...

Gonna paint them? looking at the wheels you could get creative with "murasaki" accents and such!

i like the size and offset, now look for hubcentric rings!

oh, and go with the 225/40, no reason to go with a 235.

Props for creativity. Those things look damn good(just get rid of the ford logo) and should be better quality some aftermarket rims.

Thanks for the responses...The Ford logos are already gone...Either gonna have Randode cut some vinyl or find some Scion tC center caps for them...I agree with the Muraski accents but the wifey does not like any of that stuff and it's her car...So they are going to stay the way they are...And ys I'm going to get hub centric rings...I wanted a little wider tire, hence the reason I wanted to go with a 235 tire but I think a 225 will do...I'm running 225/40/18 on my xD and those rims are 18x8...

This afternoon I actually pulled the rear wheel and did an actual mock-up...I think they are going to look really good and as far as fitment goes it barely touches the brake caliper...May run a 5mm spacer or shave the caliper since were going to paint it anyways...Here is how they look:

I'm amazed that a 7.5" wide +39 offset wheel touches the caliper. The center and spokes must be pretty thick. Do you have a scale at the house to weigh one of the wheels?

I just weighed one on my digital bathroom scale...They are heavy for an 18" rim...They weigh in at 26 lbs a piece...My 18" Enkeis I just sold weighed less than 22 lbs a piece...Looks like I will be going with a 225 tire to save some weight there...

Not as heavy as I thought they might be, but you might also want to research the tires as well. For example, I'm planning on switching from Falken 912's to Conti ExtremeContact DW's for my next set of tires; each DW tire weighs 5# less up front and 6# less in back... that's a 20% weight savings per tire.

Ok thanks for the info...I know with my Gen1 xB I could run 5mm spacers on stock studs with no problems...I ran them for 50,000 miles and never had any issues...Is it the same thing with the Gen2?

The stock studs on the xB2 are not real long. You want to make sure you get good thread engagement (8 full turns of the lug nuts). This covers it in depth really well:

remember to rub a hubcentric ring 60.1 to 67.1 if not the vibration will cause the studs to break

I'd suggest adding a spacer (OE offset is larger) and leaving the calipers alone. If you need to replace the calipers in the future, the last thing you'll want to fool with is cutting them to accept the wheel -- at which point they'll no longer have core value.

FYI, General Exclaim UHPs weigh the same as the Conti's and cost a lot less. I have no complaints about mine, fwiw.

I have to run ET/Ultra style lug nuts just to get adequate thread engagement on MSW wheels with no spacers. IMO, 5mm spacers would leave you with maybe 6mm of TE, or half of what's universally considered the minimum safe TE. You could probably run 5mm spacers with ET lug nuts safely since they'll give you an extra 4-5mm of TE plus lug-centric centering in addition to hub-centric. The only downside to ET lug nuts is the lack of variety. You can get them in any color you like, as long as it's chrome.

General Tire is both a very good and very unappreciated tire brand. If you want good value/performance for your money, they're hard to beat.

Since General Tire is owned by Continental, I'm sure there is some technology sharing taking place. In comparing various tires I noted a lot of similarities between Conti and General tires within same classes. One notable was weight. Contis are light and Generals are light.

Another under-appreciated tire maker is Cooper. I still remember replacing the bald oem Goodyears on my ex-wife's 87 Dodge Daytona after 30,000 miles with a set of Coopers from Pep Boys that still passed state inspection after 70,000 miles of use. AFAIK they are one of only 3 remaining US owned tire comapnies. Goodyear and Hoosier being the other two.
