Default Rolling on 20's...

I know this is going to start alot of drama, but seriously whats the point of putting 20's on a xB2???

It is a economical car that gets decent mpgs... I know it "looks more proportional", but is it worth all the extra costs... It slows you down and decreases mpg.

Maybe its just me, but i dont see the point...

p.s. feel free to use those cute little emoticons to express your opinons...

people buy scions to express themselfs through their car. people dont put stuff on their car for functionality all the time, it could be for looks too. its just their own unique style.

for example...what if you put a sticker on your car...it doesnt really help performance and people might think it looks dumb but you like it and thats all that matters.

get it?

whats the point of modding your car at all? whats the point in car companies coming out with more then 1 color option?
Why did you pick black sand pearl over any other color on the lot? personal preference, thats all. some people didn't get their xb/xb2 strictly for gas mileage, or handeling, or storage space. the beauty of the scion lineup is that each model fills many different needs for many different users..
some people want to show off, or be the center of attention, some people want to fill in wheel gap, some people just want to be the first to have anything. personally, 20's are soooo 1996. if you dont have 26's at least, you are playing catchup... J/K! it's all about preference and what you want the vehicle to do for you. you want guys to look at it, and think "wow, thats a va-jayjay magnet" or do you want to show your vehicle professionally? Did you buy the vehicle to cut costs, or for your business? do you live in an area where the roads are perfectly flat and paved - i haven't found that place yet! is handeling and ride comfort not as important to you as say, audio reproduction, or a "killer" graphics scheme? if you are a hyper miler and your only concearn is fuel costs and mpg, then you would not be sooo concearned with big flashy wheels but more so lightweignt wheels and driving habbits.. it's all about personal preference, the great thing about this site is that we have a fantastic mix of all kinds of nerds, geeks, motorheads, ricers, racers, tuners, grey hairs, penny pinchers, low riders, crackers, red necks, etc... who without each of their prefences and opinions, we would not have this great community!
some people mod their cars to express themselves and others mod their cars so that they can be judged by others, we are all different
no offence anyone, personally i am a wop nerd..

It might be just me , but they are soooo 1999...

not really, the wiseguys don't know what an oxy-moron is. They think it's a guy who does his own laundry with oxy-clean.

P.S. Well said IH8ONYU!

It comes down to personal taste. I went with 20's cuz it fills the gap between the tire and fender, IMO 20's looks more proportional to the xb body.. specially with a conservative drop. Ya im getting roughly 3 mpg less but I love how my xb look. So to me its a good trade off.

I didnt buy the car cuz of the MPG.. if that is what I was after, I would have gotten a prius or a civic hybrid.

And Didnt you hear... 20's are the new 16's.

20's and 19's look good if you want high offsets and a moderate drop. I personally would go 18's or less with lower offsets and a serious drop, just because I like that stance. xB2s look good either way, but I think big blingy wheels are a little played out.

You can go with 15x10 Dayton/Roadster/Mclean kick outs if you want...

We may not be able to run anything less than a 16 due to caliper and rotor clearance. I know on newer Dodge trucks, you can't use anything less than a 17. Even if you wanted to.

I am so sad that many xb2 owners go 20's.

I would rather keep my steelies instead of trying to be "baller"

I guess I see the xb2 more as a tuner car and not a cuv with dubs, lol

I look at it the exact same way. I see it as a more affordable Escalade.

lol people put 16's on for the weight reduction. I guess I am more of a person that goes for PERFORMANCE and not just looks.

But dont you have more problems with 20"s?
like the size/price of the tires, little rocks on the road, rubbing/turning issues, etc..

If its funny to get toasted by a scion, why not buy a corolla and do a mr2 swap, wouldn't that be funnier?

I think the funniest part of this whole thread are the 20 inch rims itself..

But to each his own. If you like having big chrome rims on your car, go for it. I have found that more than 50% of scion owners are ricers

my wheels were 1200 with tires thats not alot for wheels by anymeans and im dropped 3 inches and probably 4 in the rear i dont rub unless i were to hit a speed bummp while turning going 60 so yeah and for performance thats what my black stelies are for put a sticky tire and its golden and am i a rice for having black rims on my car?
