Stock wheels difficult removing
 

Have a 2010 XB with stock steel wheels and it seems that when removing wheels I always have to beat on them (a lot)from the backside to get them off. Should I be putting something like anti sieze on the back of the wheel and around the center before remounting?

Theyre hubcentric. They it snug. Plus how often do you remove the wheels?

You could certainly use an anti-seize on the hub PCD. It should help. You could also use some emery cloth to clean up the ID of the wheel and the OD of the hub itself.

I take the wheels off to switch to snow tires in winter and back to street tires in spring, plus I usually have 1 or more off while I service the car during the year. Just a real pain

Toyota had the same problem when rotating my wheels for the first time and they put some red grease (probably just wheel bearing grease) on the center of the rim. Never had a problem with rim sticking, wheel wants to fall completely off by itself when the last nut is removed.

Just put some anti-seize or high temp grease on the center and you should be fine, just don't use a lot, a little will do.

Want to thanks you guys for the responses. I'll put some anti-seize on hub center when I take them off this week to put snow tires on

also check to see if your hub is rusted or any dirt is stuck there. i work at americas tire/discount tires and we have many many cars that are like this. its also good to get a wire brush on an impact drill and just grind the dirt and rust off the hubs.

After reading this thread.. one other thing comes to mind... OP.. What state do you live in? Also, when you mentioned taking off to put on snow tires and stating they are stockies... and that they are the "steelies" Could just be conditions where you live may be the root cause if they aren't sufficiently coated (paint or otherwise). But suggestions given by those who chimed in are good ideas.
