Default Tire Size Advice (Opinions/Options)

UPDATED FIRST POST

Well here I am again, I erased my original first post since the thread was already here, I picked up a new set of wheels, just need some tire suggestions.

F:18x8.5 +30
R: 18x10 +25

i know rears gonna need a stretch for sure, but need some suggestions on both front and rear. Suspension will be Ksport but right now its Tanabe DFs. I sure hope they come out with the rear camber kit soon.

For 9.5" wide with +22 offset:
the front wheel lips will stick out past the edge of the fenders about 1+1/8"
the rear wheel lips will stick out past the edge of the fenders about 5/8"

For 9.5" wide with +35 offset:
the front wheel lips will stick out past the edge of the fenders about 5/8"
the rear wheel lips will stick out past the edge of the fenders about 1/8"

Either way you're going to need some stretch since you're on DF springs.

I think Neek has the most aggressive fitment & drop, so maybe he can help you out more:

Here's a little more info that was posted by D-Unit:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=163758

18x9 +20 rear wheels with stretched 215/40 tires, and heavy fender rolling, he still rubbed in back with the DF springs. This would suggest that you should probably head toward the +35 offset to keep from rubbing. I don't have any idea if this might present any clearance problems turning lock-to-lock up front.

i appreciate the info, any other opinions on tire size, im thinking of the +22 in front and +35 in rear, or visa versa, would like the aggresive flush look, but not sure on tire sizing, dont want anything TOO narrow, seems a lil dangerous the narrower u get, since there isnt that much side wall to accept bump impact or anything.

For fitment that is this aggressive, you're definitely going to need some input from the VIP guys. I do know that there's no way to go with the wheel specs you're looking at without stretching the tires.

I'm running a 9.5 +32 w/ a 235/45/18 in the rear and it's fine. Simple roll of the fender (as a precaution) and I'm dropped on Tein H.Techs. When it comes to the front, there's going to be quite a bit of fender rolling/pulling involved just to prevent rubbing while driving in a straight line w/ the +22 in front. Call me crazy, but you might want to consider running the +35 in the front (w/ a spacer) and the +22 in the rear and deal w/ rolling/pulling the "half fender" in the rear.

think i decided to just do +22 all around, just afraid if i went with +35 in front that the lock to lock is going to rub on the inner side of the car, since its a 9.5 and its pushed in a lil further with the +35,

i know im gonna have to pull and rolling to do the +22, but there should be the clearance on the inner side, lol now i know i need a stretch, any size tire recommendations?

Don't be afraid of low offset. 99% of these so-called xB2 tuners run lame offsets on their wheels - including me.

Use this to calculate your offset:

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Use this to calculate your stretch compared to stock:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I ran 18x8 +40 front and 18x10 +32 rear and the rear was hella flush, the front was lame.

Hope I helped. Check my sig for pictures.

Sorry, I've been out of car modding for a while. Been playing with watches instead, another Omega arriving tomorrow

Simple - go wide, go low, go stretch.

Wide wheels in the back - 9.5" and wider.

Low offsets in the back and the front - +30mm and lower.

Staggered setups work best.

Go low - low profile tires, use 35 series for 19", use 40 series for 18", use 45 series for 17"

Go stretch, use a 215 on a 9, 225 on 9.5... etc

You're low enough with DF's. Join VSC and take a look at what some of those guys are doing.

You can run low offsets on the xB, just don't be scared to pull or radius your fenders.

If you're still planning on the +22 offset, then you're going to rub in the back for sure, and probably the front too.
Look at my post above from 11-22-2009 06:38 PM.

I still need to tune my ride but thats do to using my k-sports as my struts for my bags lol. The camber is great as long as you dont get greedy and go for -3 instead of -5. -5 you'll run into rubbing issues. -3 you just have to let the camber wear in your brake pads the right way and you're golden. RealCamber.com is working on a camber plate for the caliper but for right now this works just fine.
