Ok this may sound dumb but i keep seeing people mention problems with the TPMS. When adding aftermarket wheels, do certain wheels just not accept the TPMS, or is it just certain wheels?

 

I had a set of JDM Stern wheels, they did not fit with the TPMS. Have that annoying pilot light on now.

 

it all depends on the size of the tire.....if it is like a 30 series tire the sensor wont't fit inside. i have that problem with that annoying light!!!

 

Somebody said that you make a PVC pipe tube, put the sensors inside cap them off with a fill valve on one end and presurize the tube. Then throw the tube in the trunk and furget buot it! No blinking light

 

can you just unplug the light?

 

i don't think so. but you can take the whole gauge assembly apart and use electrical tape to block the LED from shining through

 

Open the gauges and put a round black sticker on it. That's my plan.

^^Please explain how this indicates someone doesn't care about their (not there) car as I'm a retard and slow. I've been driving for 20 years without retard warning lights, oh I mean TPMS so I think I'll be fine as I care enough about my car to use a gauge to see if my tire pressure is low.
From my research the options are limited. If you buy rims and tires that come mounted and balanced you incur a charge to swap the sensors. If you get a new set of sensors with the wheels the dealer has to reprogram the sensors and your old ones will not work. If there were a DIY solution my new rims would be coming with sensors but there isn't.

Yes you probably care more for your car then me as my car is more of an appliance to get me to and from work. I've already had my sport cars that I cared to much for. I'm liking not worrying about this car so much.

sorry its been a day
i have been waiting on parts for 4 months and need them now lol

 

So I just got some new alloy 17" wheels and they swapped the sensors no problem (45 series tire), they tried to reset the tpms but it wont take. when you turn the key on the light flashes for a minute then stays lit. What gives?

 

I have to get new ones since mines where stolen with my rims..... $600+ for those things... good thing for insurance
