TPMS sensor and valve question
hey, I have a question about TPMS, its valve stems and general tire replacement or repair. Im running stock goodyears and stock rims on my 2010 xb, when it comes time for the tires to be replaced or repaired, do I need to inform the shop to be careful of the sensors or do they still manhandle everything regardless ? Do the metal valves need to be replaced like commonly done with rubber ones? Im asking now so when the time comes I dont get ripped off. Thanx
you should inform them when they're mounting your new tires that the car has TPMS sensors and if they break them, guess what, they're buying you new ones.
and no, you don't need to replace the valves unless they're leaking.

To be on the safe side, you should inform them about the TPMS sensors. Nowadays, alot of new cars are required to have TPMS sensors, which most shops should have received training on how to go about removing the tire properly. Just make sure before you leave the shop, that everything is in proper order and no TPMS warning lights are on. If the latter, make sure the shop handle's it before you officially take the car back in your possession.
I would definitely inform them. But then again, even though I told the people that did my rims about them, they manhandled them anyways and messed them up
hopefully you have better luck than i did!!
