Question 2012 bluetooth capabilities

I have had this car for about 2 weeks and I don't understand how the bluetooth works. When we synced it to my phone at the dealer it worked great, but since then I can't get it to do much. Have tried alot of what is in the manual.

If I don't "pair" it as soon as the car starts then I lose the option "phone" and "bluetooth" and if I do get it paired and transfer my phonebook I still lose the option "Phone" and "bluetooth" so I can't call anyone. I understand you have to pair it each time you start your car, but what am I doing wrong?

I don't think you have to pair it every time you start the car. Mine syncs automatically with my phone.

That's what I thought it would do but it doesn't. I looked it up and my car and phone are suppose to be compatible.

The last time I was at one (dealership) someone had a similar issue with the Bluetooth connectivity but it was on a Prius. I would take it to the dealership and go over the correct procedures with one of the techs there and test it a few times. If the system is faulty then ask them to replace it. I'm sorry I can't give you anymore advice than this; I am not a high tech guy either. Good luck.

Mine automatically syncs every time I get into the car.
Shannon, do you have the Release Series edition? I remember reading online, somewhere, that an owner reported an audio system glitch that is specific to the 2012 Release Series XD. The person said Toyota was aware of the audio system glitch, and working on a fix. I will keep searching for the article/review and report back when I find it. I know it sounds weird that only the Release Series would be affected, but I remember reading about it when I was researching the XD prior to purchasing it a couple months ago. So, since the bluetooth works thru the audio system, it may be part of the glitch.

Edit: I was lucky and found the review about the audio system, real fast. It is on Edmunds.com 2012 Scion XD consumer reviews. But, the reviewer says it is concerning the SiriusXM program. Sorry I could not be of better help.
