Dome light assembly
Hopefully some people are still using this website. I have a 2010 scion xd and it keeps blowing the fuse for the dome light. Previously it wouldn't light up when the doors were open, then it randomly wouldn't turn on when switched to "on" but then later it would turn on, now I have no lights, radio, clock or key fob and it sparks and blows the fuse instantly when I try to replace it. My thought is the switch on the dome light assembly is dead and it's shorting out so i thought i would remove it and see if it still shorts out but after pulling the light out, I do not see a connector to remove it so I'm totally at a loss here on what to do and I cannot find ANY videos on replacing the fixture itself, even when searching for just fixture replacement. The only thing that comes up is the stupid led bulb replacement videos and it's driving me nuts! Is anyone around here to give any input on this matter?
Have you tried testing it with an Ohmmeter, that would tell you if there's a short and, if I remember correctly from when I looked at my dome light, you'd have to cut-and-splice a new switch assembly in. If that is the case, I'm guessing Toyota doesn't sell the switch separately, so it's off to a junkyard, eBay or finding a replacement online somewhere.
