Default Coolant temp gauge ???... Somebody . . ANYbody, . .REALLY ? ?

Many views but no replies ? ? Nothin'. . ?? Oh man, come on guys/gals. I hate not knowing my actual engine temp and I'm not relying on the "Yep, your engine is toast" dash indicator light to possibly come one day. Thanks in advance for any input.

Original post:
Anyone know the best place or available port on the block, or better yet on the head, to put the sensor for an aftermarket coolant temp gauge?
I've seen the available gauges where the sensor goes into the upper hose with a collar and clamps, but that's just Hoo-kee. Looking for ACTUAL ENGINE TEMP!

WOW, that scangauge II looks reely cool. I didn't even think that this type of product was out there. DUH!
Very cool. All that info and I don't even think I'll get my hads dirty. Not like I wouldn't. Built several engines and too many serious repairs to count.
That Scangauge has a S*** load of features too. Thanks you guys. I'll have to save up for one.

I always look at Amazon, Overstock, E-Bay and many more sites like them first. You can ALWAYS find stuff for less.

Yeah I just now saw this thread, was going to say that the sensor is already there, you just need to access it.
