I have the TOM'S one in my xD. Works wonders.

Do you notice the lag between when you push the pedal and when the engine responds? This kills that completely. That's all it's really for.

The TOM'S one is about $650. - Cheaper ones can be had. They are all pretty straight forward. Toyota has 3 connectors. The xD is the same as the IS250/350 connector.

Let me know if anyone needs one ;)

It's a universal controller (for each make) that alters the voltage from the pedal to the ECU. This makes the throttle respond properly to the pedal. Without it, the computer slightly offsets the curve and provides (possibly) better mileage. I usually drive with this ON.

It doesn't add any power. It simply manipulates the throttle body response time.

I'll post up pics today. I don't have the car in my possession at the moment (my modding partner has been driving it since November). It's here at work today, so I'll take some ghetto pics. I'm planning to do better pictures on Sunday.

The harness is designed so you:

1. Unplug the harness connecting to the accelerator pedal
2. Plug in the TOM'S piece
3. Plug the other end back into the Accelerator. pedal
4. Hide Control Box (about 3" by 3") in the dash under panel (the panel just above the pedal)
5. Route cable and controller (3.5" by 1") and install where you want it.

The controller will allow:
1. Eco mode (smooths response w/o overkill)
2. Sport Mode (smooths response with slightly more gusto) - Levels 1, 2, 3 available

Sport 1 feels the best to me. Sport 2 and 3 make it 'too responsive' - which will possibly cause bad mileage.

08 xD Manual Trans
MPG:
Stock Wheels, New Car: 37-39 mpg
18" w/ 215.40R18 @ 10k miles: 36-37 mpg (oddly enough)
TOM'S LTS w/ 18" wheels @ 15k miles: 34-37 (ECO and Sport 1).

Of course, YMMV. I'll try and find the scanned PDF I had that shows how the 'response curve' is altered.

Edit: Found it:

ahh, there it is. couldn't remember who had one of these. when these come doen in price, if ever, they will be a big add-on piece. i think it's necessary anyway. I'd rather have the feel of the pedal connected to the TB and these parts do that essentially.

There are cheaper ones out there, but they are not Toyota-specific. Some are now developing wire harnesses so it's PNP though. TOM'S is a premier Toyota/Lexus tuner in Japan.

I'm sure you've seen the TOM'S Supra and Soarer Race-proven ftw.

I installed it between the front 2 seats, where the VSC and interior light kit switches would go. That's the only visible component. The rest is hidden away.

The TOM's unit is actually made by Blitz. You can get the blitz unit PnP for all Toyotas with DBW. Is exactly the same, it just doesn't says TOMS.

The other unit out there that is actually a lot cheaper than the Blitz/TOM's is the one made by PIVOT. And they have PnP harness for the Toyotas

IIRC there are 3 different haarness options depending of your car model.

There is one more unit out there, i don't remember the brand. But this one is not adjustable like the PIVOT/BLITZ/TOMs

This is in my Mod list... But they are just to expensive yet.

Pivot runs about $250-300. by far the cheapest I've seen and there's prolly a reason for that

recent Import Tuner has a blurb about another type of controller. too bad I can't remember the name of company.

edit: I doubt too many guys are buyin into these cuz of cost. We are dealing with Scions here nad most want parts for free or close to it. these are no where near any of the above. think of it as Illinois politics as it's pay to play. I'm still working the wife over for one of these. I don't care which

SOunds like a great device to look into. Now from an ECo standpoint this tool would be ultimate if it worked in conjunction with the cruise control in order to freeze a throttle position instead of adapting to speed.

None the less something worth looking into.

sorry for sounding abit clue less on this. But tom's or blitz e thottle, it doesnt add hp but it provides faster thottle response therefore abit quicker and reduce lag? thanks

has nothing to do with HP. nada....allows better control of the E-throttle on the car. changes the eletrical signal based on how you set it to either spee dup or slow down it's response to the TB. too many guys are confusing this with a power chip

oo no. like ii said. i kno it doesnt provide horsepower. but it allows more eltectric signals for better response and less lag

It basically serves as a translator.

Pedal voltage @ x is intercepted and modified before being sent to the ECU.
