Default Exhaust

Hello again gents,

Im wondering if anyone has spent some time with the available exhaust for the xd. New emissions testing in the cursed section of ontario requires that all systems be operational in terms of electronic sensors (in other words, it doesnt matter if your high-flow cat is working, the ECU has to know its working). Is the RPM mid-pipe worth the money? Is there even an option to modify the exhaust that will keep emissions testing passible?

Well, it's an xD, and we all know you can't throw enough bolt-ons at this thing to get it much faster, so is an exhaust worth it regarding horsepower or mid-range? Of course not. Is it worth it for sound and appeal? Of course it is. The mid-pipe is going to sound a tad bit better, but not by much. But I mean, any bit of sound you can get out of it, I think would be worth it.

Is there much you can do to squeeze a little more juice out of the 2zr-fe? I have spent countless hours working on a 3sgte which smiles at just about anything you do...

Right. I mean of course you can if there isn't a budget... so that's kind of a tough question...

Otherwise, for a regular guy only trying to spend one to two grand, you can just do the basics, intake/header/exhaust/tune.

Ya sorry that is a question with unlimited possibilities lol. With limited resources, the four basic mods would give only minor increase? Is there a ballpark for those mods? i would imagine 180 hp near redline would be pushing it... 100 hp per litre...

Hmm... you certainly wouldn't be able to squeeze 52hp with that set up to put you at 180. You are only starting with 128hp. This set up might get you to 150-160hp I would think. Otherwise, you can build your motor for higher compression and fabricate some elaborate turbo set up. That last sentence is easily at 10-15 grand since everything will be custom since they don't offer that stuff for this car.
