Filter quality
So I have searched the forums and read a lot of the same things, but what I haven't really came across was, the filter quality of all these brands, K&N,Injen,Weapon R, AEM etc... See I see this as a problem, I feel like most of us want a car that gets great gas mileage, but at the same time, a small kick from now and then doesn't hurt...I mean after all most of us are men or at the least to a degree a novice grease monkey ( sorry if that was sexist ladies, I didn't mean it to come out that way, Women want power too). BUT most of all, we want quality, we want longevity,(because we bought a Toyota). So how much of a filter are these filters? I mean I would take less Hp if I knew it would be a consistent stand of Hp in comparison to one that gave me 2-3 more pony's ( granted these are also arguable) and left me with dirt in my engine and less hp then what I started with.
I am starting my search to find out which of these filters do the best job of keeping dirt, oil etc out
. BUT if you have any intel on this, please share it with us or at least me. Thanks for taking the time to read.

The stock HEPA style design of the OE filters are simple and actually work very well. Oil coat (K&N) are nice but will allow more particles into the engine. Whether or not this will damage the engine or reduce its life is always up for debate but it doesn't change the fact that more material is allowed past the filter. I have seen several dirty MAF sensors in my time and all of the owners were running some sort of high performance oil coat air filter. For more reading I suggest checkout bobistheoilguy.com as they actually perform test sometimes to compare stock and aftermarket air filters.
Yeah I've heard and read that lots of forums and mags, a long time ago I found this test that pited HKS, K&N, Apexi and some other brands using a 99 camaro as the subject but can't find it any more. However I did find this...
