Default Newby with Question

Hi new person here. A little intro, I bought my wifey a new XD back in 2008, Magnetic grey auto, tinted the glass and had a remote starter put in. any who she loves it and has been a good car for her and us. It has 43000 on it now. I like this site very informative and enthusiastic about the Scions. I personally like the XB and have been eyeballing them for a while now. Any way for the question concern I have.

I noticed some dry pink or orange colored stuff on the inside of the hood on the data plate pass side of car. It is also on the alternator pulley and I think there is some on the water pump pulley. It appears to have been slung on there from a pulley. The coolant level remains the same and there are no fluid leaks that I have yet to see underneath. I did use some orange colored washer fluid but have since filled with the blue stuff. I wiped it off the hood and the little that was on the firewall. It has not run hot. It runs all same same, I am baffled so far. I thought maybe someone could shed a little light for me. Bill

it may be the water pump starting to go out; i know there used to be an issue with tc's of them going out prematurely but i'm just kind of guessing

It's the waterpump. I had the problem with my xB. It was a pink line that appeared on my hood. I had an extended warranty and it was repaired and covered for free.

thats what I am thinking it is. I didn't buy and extended warranty service plan I was hoping the reliability would be better than this. Oh well

lol, I think it took them one hour to one and a half hours. Wasn't much time at all. Before hand I was thinking maybe $300-350 total. Autozone sells the water pump for less than a c note if you look it up under the Corolla 1.8 L size engine. I assume that is the same.
