Basically, couldn't find the right parts. Had everything torn apart, airbox out, started to put the new spectre filter on, couldnt get it to fit, ran back down to autozone to get some different fittings. Got the right stuff, but ran out of time in the night to install it. Had to reinstall all of the stock intake parts, wasn't hard putting it back in as it was taking it out when i knew how it all went in then.

Here is a picture of the filter and the fitment from my phone

the filter shuold have come with rubber adapters that slide inside the ring at the base of it. i used those and used the metal strap that comes with it and it tightened down fine for me. no leaks, no nothing. slid right over the MAF adapter pipe too. but hey, now you have a cool silicone connector to boot! hope your second time around is smoother! good luck

They do not sell the filter as shown in the picture you provided, this is a different one. Came with no adapters, no metal straps, nothing, thats why i bought the other red adapter, ive figured a way out to do it, i will have to post up pictures when im done, but im busy all night tonight and will not be able to complete it.

Even though i did buy one that said it was for 3 inch intake systems it did not fit over it, and i could not "stretch" it enough for it to fit over.

Ill figure it out somehow. Let you know when it is all done.

It was completed tonight. I will have to take some pictures when it is light out and ill make another thread for it, because this has nothing to do with my axle back.

It sounds sooo nice. So did you just take yours off TRD? Did you used to have one, or what?

used to have one, took it off when i went to get my 5k mile service so i could get the free airbox filter (didn't really need it at the time but i thought itd be useful to have if something came up) but then i never got around to installing it again....so the box stayed on up until now..I bought some stuff so that I don't have to zip tie it but...i still have yet to complete it. ill be lookin for that thread!

Im interested. The zip ties aren't the most permanent thing, i have some back one ones on there, but from the heat, and tension eventually they will break.

yeah that was my concern...

i went to OSH (home depot would definitely have this but OSH is closer to my house haha) and just picked up a rod that was threaded from tip to tip, and cut it down to size so that i can bolt it to the original airbox mounting plate, and run the rods up through the two holes on the MAFS adapter piping, and again, bolt it. you have to sandwich it..put a nut on the bottom of it, and then thread a nut down so it tightens on top as well. so that means you shuold buy at least 8 nuts to secure it.

you may have to bend the rod in shape a little, because the holes for the MAFS piping and the airbox mounting plate dont really align, but the rods aren't thick...so it should be easy to bend, even if you have to lay half of it off a table and tap it with a small hammer.

hope that helps?
