Value of ScionLife.com for an XD owner...
Having been a member of this site for only a couple of weeks or so, I have already:
1) Changed the oil and filter with absolutely no hassle whatsoever.
2) Installed a Fumoto valve replacing the drain plug.
3) Installed two rubber plugs in the undercarriage that should have been done at pre-delivery inspection.
4) Reset the "Maintenance Required" dash light warning.
If anyone is planning on installing a Fumoto valve to make oil changes less messy, I would point out that the washer used with the valve is not metallic like the washer used with the Scion drain plug...so, at least for me, I never got that feeling with the wrench that you get when you tighten in a drain plug and then give a little extra push just for good measure. I felt that I could have, without too much force, continued locking down the valve, but I know much more would have stripped something.
Thanks to you folks for answering my questions and making that oil change a breeze!

You're absolutely right! And, the Fumoto I installed also has a nipple which makes it stick out even further, but I don't normally drive where it could be an issue...however, there's always the possibility of running over something that could totally ruin my day! I opted for the nipple version as I can be more selective of what containers I wish to use to collect the used oil, as a tube slips over the nipple. The tube supplied by Fumoto is about 3' in length. When I change the oil in my Ford Ranger again, I'll install a Fumoto for it as well.
