What did you expect? A 20hp increase? ;)

It's more of a sound mod these days. Short ram being even more of a hindrance to performance than stock airbox.

Might be fun to play with when it's cooler outside.

how can you say that.......the stock box seems pretty restictive granted you are not gonna get 50hp with a intake but my HKS short intake gave the car more response IMO.

We have to wait to see the numbers if the mild hp gain if any will justify the cost.....or will it be just a shiny accessory for 245.....

Great job Weapon R from a scion xD owner......you guys were also the first for the gen2 xB also

I hope for the sake of anybody purchasing this item that it's easier to install than the one on my xA.

how can who say what, bbcx?

most aftermarket air intakes don't do jack. 2-3 hp is not worth 300 dollars. not to me, anyway, and not on an econobox.

I only upgrade if it increases performance. why spruce up the engine bay with 245-300 dollars when i can use that towards springs, shocks, sway bars, strut bars, new wheels, tires, etc. etc. etc.

I guess there were days when intakes did something, or maybe they never did, but it still was before my time. But all Toyotas that I played with in the last 5 years had decent OEM airboxes and all that aftermarket intakes did was add expensive bling. Nothing that you can actually notice at the track, and that's the only place where you can actually check if your "mods" do anything.

exactly my point. same for nissans, even my '87 - to get any performance increase, heavy modding of the whole air filter bay is required. new nissans and toyotas have just fine air intakes, and hell most have the best air filters as well - keeping in mind that oem filters prevent 99% of debris, while performance filters might give 1-2 more hp but allow debris in that can lessen the life of an engine. ill stick with stock.

that is my point 2-3 hp.....he (zoltiz) states it is expensive bling but every little bit helps.....I am not saying this car will become the next SI killer with I/H/E but back in the day for me (2 years ago ) having I/H/E against usually (not always) allowed you to take down a stock model. of th same car.....but your right does let more junk in your car.......

If intakes suck so bad then why is the Z community running them.......

Just throwing it up for discussion not need to get personal.....

Old habits die hard. 2-3 hp is well within error margin of even a good dyno, and I've "taken down" 350Zs with intakes and exhausts in my bone stock '05 Z. On some cars I/H/E might work, but xD is not a Civic ;)

to vouch for the weapon r intake, i have the weapon r in my box and i like it, you can feel a gain in horsepower and it sounds really good, when heavy shifting it sounds like a blow off valve a little...i like it...thats my $.o2 worth

if you are talking about old-school Z's like I have, the new filters dont have much benefit for an NA, which is what i have, so i dont bother. the turbos are a diff. story. but here, we are talking about an NA xD, with a decent factory intake.

besides, when you get right down to it, better shifting can outbeat any CAI.

true driver error counts for a lot got beat by an xB on the highway cause I miss shifted 3rd..... should have put it into 4th at those speeds

I guess my point is since negating driver, dyno error do you think a CAI xD would out perform a stock xD.....I know scion's in general are not performance wizards unless you dump some money into them and I am glad cause my insurance rates would suck.

lmao. we all make mistakes - hell, the reason I mentioned the shifting is because I'm still definately in the learning phase - my driving style fits my '87, most people probably take me for a 60-yr-old, the way i drive it.

ok, and now for the real world, intelligent buyers don't waste money on a product that doesn't offer anything that the replacing part offers. asking for facts/specs on a product before you buy is the way to shop.
