First off, there are no available cat back exhaust for the xD. That means that yo will need a custom work to have a cat back system installed on the car.

The theory behind an upgraded exhaust is that by increasing the velocity of the exhaust gases you will see some gains in power. Those gains in a car like the xD are small and most likely perceptible on the higher range of the power band.

That said, a cat-back exhaust is offten seen as a cosmetic mod as the benefits of a free flowing axle back are often ofsetted by the restrictive mid pipe.

So if you are looking for a nice sporty sound and don't care much for performance, go for one of the aftermarket options. If you are looking to improve the performance of your car a little, then you should look into a custom cat back.

Something funny is that a custom catback system will usually be cheaper than one of the aftermaket axleback options.

A cat back on the xD actually does a lot for us(not sure about the Yairs TS), the mid piping on our car has been said to be about 1.75 in width. replacing that with 2.25 in piping frees up a lot of the restriction building up in the exhaust and also deletes some of the extra cats on the car. But as stated, no companies are offering a cat back setup currently, just axle backs.

i only paid about $150 for my catback, plus the cost of a muffler. if you do a full 2.25" catback, from the last cat, you will have removed all of the 1.75" piping. you will definitely notice some gains once you get rid of that garden hose stock exhaust. getting a catback will not remove any cats, only a resonator if you choose to have the shop remove it. the resonator has a 2.25" inlet, and a 1.75" outlet.

Believe it or not.. some of these so called restrictions are there for a reason..
You lose low end torque when there is no backpressure.. but you gain some hp in the upper rpm band.. its a tradeoff .. For everyday driving, I prefer the low end Tq over high rpm HP..
Also smaller diameter pipes create more velocity and improve scavenging in other parts of the system.. so when designed properly.. It all works together for the driveability of the car..
Buy a cat-back system for the sound.. not for performance..
