Default xD Buzzing / Whistling Noise

Hey everyone-
My xD makes a strange buzzing / whistling noise from the front of the car when driving @ low RPM's (1k~2200) and when I am coasting or driving with my foot barely on the gas on the freeway. I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this.

Thanks in advance-

Mine doesn't make any sort of noise like that. Manual or automatic? So then this only happens when the car is moving right? Take it to your dealer and maybe get a guy to ride with you to let them hear the noise. Dunno, hope its nothing serious!

Its an automatic and only when I am driving for a couple miles @ freeway speed. Also, its not that loud of a noise just not normal (to me at least).

Its just weird because I had a tech from the dealer drive with me and the noise only happened for a second (of course) and he did hear it but then later said that its "operating normally" or something like that.

My last car was over 13 years old, so I really don't know what the new motor sounds are supposed to be.

I have discovered a small hole or something in between the seem of the plastic on my driver side mirror. Where the gray/black meets the car color. When I put my finger over one part the whistle stops. Thinking of sealing it up with something to stop it but see if its some kind of seam somewhere? You could always go Death Proof style and strap an aussie to your hood and have them ride and listen for it?

Also many other times your alternator can whine. Ive had a couple cars that had alternators that whined at higher speeds which was generally only noticeable with windows down.

if the sound i am thinking of is engine related, its probably your intake. mine does the same thing, but it got a little louder after i put the intake on. its caused by the air whistling over the throttle plate in the intake when its just at the right angle (when your foot is in the right position on the gas). i dont remember how loud the sound was with the stock air box, but im pretty sure it would be audible considering how loud it is now, and the simplicity of the stock box.
