09 xD Pioneer Premium Aux/iPod button not working.
Hey everyone, I just bought a 09 xD and I love the car, however for some reason the aux/ipod button on the head unit wont work. Ive tried 2 third generartion iPods and a iPhone4.
but even when I plug it up with the iPod jack I still get nothing, even using the steering wheel mlde selector does nothing. Any advice?

how are you connecting it?
USB to dock connector or auxillary?
if you just bought it then you could try going back to where you got it and tell them it doesn't work and check that the wires in the back are all plugged in.
could be a bad usb to dock connector cable.

Im using the ipod jack connector with the pins, but no use. The button itself on the head unit doesnt respond at all. Plugged in or not I get nothing.
Still figuring out afew tricks about my XD thought it only was capable of ipod and the aux jack.

i mean, is it the normal usb ipod cable or is it a big plug to the dock connector?
if nothing is plugged into the usb then hitting the ipod/aux button isn't going to make anything happen.
if you plug it in with the AUX headphone cable then you have to control the ipod yourself, it isn't going to be controlled through the HU.
if it is a big plug to the dock connector then an iPod touch or iPhone won't work quite right. apple changed the dock connector pins for the iPod touch and iPhone, you'd need a dock adapter, even then i think an iphone needs to be set to a certain mode for it to work fully.
the classic and mini ipods with dock connectors should work through the HU.
if you use a regular usb plug then it should work through the HU,
if not the cables are either not connected right or any of the cables might have gone bad for some reason, the ones coming from the HU or your usb cable.

At the risk ofsounding like an idiot. Theres a usb port? only seen the aux jack and ipod connector. Been trying to get the ipod to work by using the big black ipod connector but not having any luck. The ipod is a third gen touch, so that may be the issue as you stated.
i couldn't remember what year they changed it. scion used to use their own cord, which is the big plug to the dock connector, at some point apple changed the way the dock connector could work on the iPod touch and the iPhone. this change "broke" the ability to work with the old big plug to dock connector cord for those new iPod touches and iPhones and maybe the new touch screen nanos (classic ipod still works)
when the new model years were released scion/toyota stopped using their own plug and started putting in USB ports instead so you had to use your own usb to dock cords.
if you push the AUX/iPod button and use an AUX cord (headphone plugs on both ends) and plug that in to the car and ipod you have to select your music and hit play on the ipod and control the ipod itself. it isn't going to be controlled from the head unit.
if your using the included black cable and you want to use an ipod touch or iPhone, you need to get something like this:
otherwise it isn't going to work like expected.
if you try to use an older ipod classic/nano or using the AUX through the ipod's headphone jack and it still doesn't work then the cables are either loose/disconnected or it is broken.

I believe Scion used their own plug and an AUX input up until '09. In '09 they started using an AUX and a USB connection.
If you have the Scion connector you probably don't have an '09.
Apple switched a couple of the wires around (charging wires I believe) so the newer stuff won't charge on the old Scion connection without an adapter. But it should (most of the time) still work.
If you cannot get the AUX to work either (with a cable plugged into the AUX plug) then it is very likely the radio.
