The audio system in my wife's 2014XD has begun to behave erratically. It turns on fine and all the functions seem to work, but sporadically the display touch screen flashes between different menus and the unit emits a regular beeping sound.

There doesn't seem to be any real pattern to this (although it may be more likely to happen in the morning than in the afternoon). It happens spontaneously, without touching the screen or activating any function. Tapping the screen seems to stop it.

The behavior started after the car was in a relatively minor accident recently and had to be repaired to the tune $5,000. But the damage was all exterior -none of the interior was touched.

All other electrical functions in the car seem fine and there doesn't seem to be any interruption in electrical service to the audio system -- the screen doesn't go blank and the sound isn't interrupted.

Any ideas what might be happening and how we can resolve this, short of replacing the unit (which I'm sure isn't cheap).
