For those that do not know, Your start position on the key does not have to be held in start position till the engine starts. Just a tap till the starter turns and it will continue till the engine starts. Even if you let the key go back to the on position. That's why a "Pust-To-Start" button works on the XD. It keeps turning till the engine starts. If the engine has a hard start and does not fire up, just turn the key to OFF and the starter will stop turning.
while that is a neat little creature comfort, at least the tC has auto up/down for both the driver and passenger side windows. i think that should be standard on ALL CARS!
absolutely incorrect. at least on the 2005... but different engine, different ECU, different programs.

amen to that
i still have problems with that feature not working sometimes. if its cold and i dont hold it in the start position the first time i attempt it, the car will die. if i try it again, it usually works. but if the motor isnt warmed up, i have to hold the key in the start position.

I already installed mine more than a year ago. The button is from Pivot Racing, I cut the black wire from the IGN sw and tied it to one terminal of the start button. The other one went to a "hot with key on" line at the fuse block and I think it was a pink wire. I also made the illuminating blink with the key on and extinguish when the motor was running. I used the hole thingie on the right side of the steering column, and it's convenient there coz I turn the key on and poke the button. By the time I get my seatbelt on, the engine is already started. Here's what it looks like:

and this is why i question push-button starters... whats the point? you still have to turn the key - why not just turn it a little further? i can understand remote start, but push-button starts, to me, are up there with the most useless modifications to do.
Don't factory push button starts only require the key be within the vehicle, and not in the ignition?
on cars that have push button ignition retrofitted to the car, they still have to turn the key in the ignition column to turn the car on. so yeah, it makes less sense.
on my dad's 2003 porsche cayenne s, you get a plastic key replica that you leave in the ignition slot, and carry the key fob around with you. so you walk up to the car, the door unlocks automatically, you then turn the plastic key in the ignition to start the car. so it is nearly as convenient as push button starts sense you don't have to go through your pocket for the keys to the car.
but i have to say, one trend i HATE about german cars is their completely abiguous symbols on the remote to lock and unlock the doors with the remote keyless entry. all they need is a symbol of a closed lock, and an open lock, and a picture of a car with the trunk open.

this is true, had some cold mornings, and decided to try it. just gave a quick flick, and let the key back to it's resting position, and it cranked for about a second more before starting. sweet!!!
