i asked a couple of local stereo shops and i followed thier advice. if anyone is wondering on how to install speakers onto ur xd, here is what i did:

for the two speakers in the front i left the original mount but i cut out the speakers. my 6 1/2 speakers fit into the gap just fine. i screwed the speakers onto hte mount and connect the speakers using speakers harness.
as for the back speakers i completly remove the the factory speaker(mount and all) the opening is the right size to drop in 6.5 speakers. i drilled the speakers onto the door.

u dont have to worry bout ur windows hitting the magnet of the speakers they dont even come close.

Wouldn't that greatly depend on the size of your magnet? Some component 6.5"s have very large magnets. I know in my last car everyone told me 6x9's of any sort would fit great, I bought the 6x9's I love (Pioneer Kevlar) which have a huge magnet and they didn't fit at all, magnet hit the rear fender wall .

I had to use some 3/4" mdf speaker adapters for mine. Using JL xr650 comps, the magnet came pretty close to the window without it plus I didn't want to drill new holes. Used bolts to fit in the stock mounting holes after I drilled out the stock rivets.

see this site for adapters. http://cgi.ebay.com/6-6-5-Front-or-R...742.m153.l1262

It's an e-bay site that sells units that screw into the existing holes and you can mount 6.5" into them. I have used them on my FJ Cruiser and they worked great.
