Default Misc Pre-Foglight wiring, Auto-dim Mirror wiring pics.

Ok, it's been a while and I finally uploaded some pictures on to Flickr.

I tore my car apart. In November I installed an Auto-Dimming interior mirror with Homelink and outside temperature. The xD has no holes through the firewall for adding new wires, so I used the existing main harness which actually has two nipples to cut and add wires. To get to this, you have to remove the wiper blade, top cowl and lower cowl in the engine bay. I ran two wires for the temperature sensor and one wire for future foglight addition. The pictures will show all.

Last week, I removed the top of the dash which is really easy to gain access to everything under the dash. Two screws and two bolts and it pops off. I also completely removed the headliner which I don't recommend because removing the interior mirrors, grab handles, and both A & C pillar covers requires replacing ALL the retaing clips as you have to break them to get them off. $70 for replacment clips.

I like factory wiring. I hate using the quick taps for wiring, so I'll cut a wire, solder it, shrink wrap it and retape it. You'll see. Also, I have the headliner completely out and have added felt tape to the inside of the rear seatbelt retainer in the headliner to give it more friction to hold the belt in place.

You'll also see in my pictures a second TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) ECU that I bought from a guy for cheap. I programmed my winter tires to this so when I do go back to summer tires, all I do is unplug the wire connector from the 2nd ECU and plug back into the original ECU. I did this so I don't have to spend $90.00 each time to reprogram the sensors. 2 sets of tires, 2 ECU's (I hate seeing warning lights too). =-)

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

<3!

Love that you have the confidence to rip apart your car lol. Do you think you'll ever write a DIY for the mirror switch out? I was thinking that it would be a nice touch to have on my own xD but I'm not confident enough to attempt it on my own or wanting to shell out to have someone do it for me.

Thats a very clean Sub/Amp setup that lets you keep the storage in the back and allows for easy removal if need be. If I ever get around to doing one, I'd love to do one just like that.
