My Custom Subwoofer - Finished!
Ok, so I don't have any wood working tools around my house, but my dad in California is quite the handyman...I called dad and said "I need a subwoofer box, can you make one if I send you my parcel shelf"?
This is what I got:

I'll be adding a lot more pictures in the next few days. The sub is very basic. It is a Pioneer shallow mount 8" and I have a 300W Pioneer amp under the passenger seat. I'm utilizing the RCA outputs on the Premium head unit. So far, it sounds pretty good. I didn't want or need anything "boomy", and I got exactly what I wanted.
I'll be posting pics of my amp install and how I wired the main battery cable for the amp through the firewall soon. Tomorrow I'm going to carpet my box and finish the install.

Silly you can't make an img tag work without a .gif, .png, .jpeg, .jpg and w/e else there is
Anyways, that looks really cool! Does it fit in the grooves for the cargo cover or no? Also, for drilling or going through the firewall, did you find an easy place? I was looking the other day and I didn't find an easy area to get my (small) hands in to do the wires.

Well, I'm not the most computer savy guy out there, but I tried! haha...I think the links still work though, right?
Yes, the box fits into the existing grooves for the parcel tray and pivots just the same. I'll post some side-view pics of that soon too.
As for wiring through the firewall, there is only one place. It is the main wire loom on the drivers side. To access it, you have to take the wipers off, the plastic shield between the hood and winshield, the wiper motor, and the metal tray in the engine compartment...It's not too time consuming, but has to be done to get back there.
The second thing I did was take the top of the dashboard off. It is actually pretty simple and can describe that later if anyone is interested. I did this to properly wire the amp cable.

I would take the image tags off so others can click and get to the album

Wow I would totally need someone to help me with all that lol. I've taken my glove box out for the air filter, and every time I act like I'm going to break it lol. How did you figure all of that out?

Well...I use to be an engineer for 2 major automotive companies in Southern California...It's what I like to do and comes naturally to me. I'm not one for a hack job, so I always go the extra mile to make sure I do it right. =-)
i like the way it looks!
do you have tinted rear windows? id be afraid to have the sub all open like that living in philly. Or, i'd have the sub downward firing, and use the built box as a "cargo cover"
