You're are THE MAN right now.

To tell you the truth, I'm looking to hook up an aftermarket tach, voltmeter, and an oil pressure gauge.

PM works for me.

If there's an easier way for you just let me know

and of course, thank you again!

The EASIEST way to get the stuff all in one guage is by installing a ScanGauge. It simply connects to the OBDII and you get all kinds of readings.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/car/8426/?cpg=froogle

it also can clear codes that are thrown !

Travis, you wouldn't happen to have a diagram for the 2013 xD would you? Or do you know if the wiring is identical to the 2008-2010? I am looking at the oil pressure wire in the instrument cluster and it looks right, but I want to make sure before I fry something by connecting my remote start to it.

While I do not have an exact answer to the question. The research I did I believe the wiring is identical is all scion xD models.

an ebay search "scion electrical wiring diagram" only shows results of 2008 or 2009 wiring diagram which leads me to believe toyota uses only one manual for the wiring diagram.

An idea you can do is print out the cover and bring it in to your local toyota shop, and start by asking how much is it to buy the 2013 version (dont' just go in asking questions like is it the same , please help me...) and see what type of information you can gather.

Also, I really want to add a remote start to my scion xD 2013. Do you think you can take images of the steps you did and which wires you used so that me and others who want to do this can benefit? Also what product did you buy specifically?

It would be much much appreciated!

Absolutely. I started a thread here looking for the oil pump positive wire. I think it's at F1 pin 5 in the instrument cluster, which matches color and position with the connector on my dash. Anyway that thread has the details about the product. As you can see it's affordable, but I haven't been able to hook it up yet as I couldn't find all the wires. I'm also completely in the dark as far as quality. I'll update that thread when I get it all going so keep an eye on it!

I saw your thread on the remote starter. Oil pump positive makes no sense as I can only guess it would mean oil PRESSURE switch positive and that would be system (or ECU supplied) voltage. The pressure switch provides a ground and turns off the light when pressure reaches set point. If the car uses a gauge a transducer provides variable resistance based on pressure and shows on the gauge. The only way I can see a need for oil pressure sensing is to tell the system that the car is running. The last car I saw that did that was the Chevy Vega. The electric fuel pump wouldn't energize until oil pressure built while cranking and provided ground to the fuel pump relay. A stupid and very trouble prone design. Of course just about everything on the Vega was stupid......

My guess because of the very poor translation from Chinese to English is that they mean fuel pump positive to tell the system that it's running. Still kind of strange. I looked at the link you posted on the kit and the instructions link. Until those instructions are clarified I'd be very afraid of that thing. Tap into the wrong wire and it could easily cost you an ECU. I hope you get it all straightened out and functional.

Joe, oh it's definitely a bad translation. That said, I used the engine oil pressure line (F1 pin 5 on the combination meter assembly in travisbklein's link, above), and it did not seem to have any effect. I would imagine that's because it only supplies voltage on that line if there is low oil pressure, and doesn't check to see if the oil pump is running. Fuel pump would be a good bet, but I'm not sure if that would even help. This thing is just a piece of junk. So I'm out of ideas. I'm going to attempt to get a refund on the whole mess and try again some other time.

Travis, I would NOT recommend the device I linked. I'll update you if I get a different one.

Yes I know, after I went to the link I saw that there were zero reviews which is a big No-No when shopping on Amazon.

When you buy car parts that need installation on Amazon something I always do is make sure there are reviews, and some of those reviews give details about cars very similar to mine.

If I can't find a Scion review that I sure as hell am going to make sure there are Corollas and Camrys in there somewhere.

Call Amazon on the phone to set up the return even if it's past 30 days.
