Programming Key MOZB52TH 2013 Scion xD..
I am having the worst trouble trying to program my car key. I am finding the directions online which are below.
My car enters in programing because the lock cycles, but I am unable to add the new key. My new key is a MOZB52TH key just like the factory one I own. This is the key I bought: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sci...6c42c73790.jpg My key is a MOZB52TH key, factory key came with the car https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sci...d326b79950.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sci...20e4ef238b.jpg In the Facebook group other people are are saying they have a MOZB41TG. But I found out every one of them has a Scion built before 2012. So I'm sure we have different keys. I just can't get this programmed to my 2013 Scion xD. Thanks for anyone who can help. ---------------------------------------------- DIRECTIONS ONLINE FOR PROGRAMMING................. Step 1Enter your car with your driver's door open, and insert and remove your key from the ignition twice.Step 2Close and open your driver's door twice, insert and remove the key from the ignition again, and close and open the driver's door two more times.Step 3Insert your key, close the driver's door, cycle your ignition key "On" and "Off,' and then remove the key.Step 4Wait for the locks to automatically click on and off, and then press and hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously on your key fob for 3 seconds.Release both buttons, and then press and release one button. Wait for the locks to click again, and the programming will be completed with your remote. You can then open your driver's door to end the programming sequence. _____ |
I've seen key programming instructions that include time limits to perform each step. I don't know whether any of your steps are exceeding respective time limits but it might be worth referencing a different set of instructions. Have you checked youtube for a video how-to?

Oh, I have searched there and 458 other websites for how to fix my problem.
Asked in the Scion xD Facebook group, and where ever else. _____ |
Have you tried calling a dealership to see if your working key would reduce the cost of programming the new one? All I've ever read about were drivers who lost their key.

I can start the car just fine after I cut the key, but its not programmed, which means my car has no immobilizer, like all Scion xDs. _____ |
Wish I knew how to help. Good luck with the fix.

I know when I figure out, this will help others that face the same problem with Scions built after 2012 that use this MOZB52TH key. UPDATE: Figured it out ok I solved it and here's how. We 2013-2014 Scion xD use a different key. It is the M0ZB52TH, but not just any key with that FCC ID, it has to be a Scion key that is OEM and yes it will be more money, I got mine for $70 on ebay and it is OEM. here are the images of it, you can see it is OEM. I used these instructions: Enter your car with your driver's door open, and insert and remove your key from the ignition twice. Step 2 Close and open your driver's door twice, insert and remove the key from the ignition again, and close and open the driver's door two more times. Step 3 Insert your key, close the driver's door, cycle your ignition key "On" and "Off,' and then remove the key. Step 4 Wait for the locks to automatically click on and off, and then press and hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously on your key fob for 3 seconds. Release both buttons, and then press and release one button. Wait for the locks to click again, and the programming will be completed with your remote. You can then open your driver's door to end the programming sequence. ____ https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sci...e6fd14e682.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sci...d307108f82.jpg |

I picked this one because it was the flip-open style, just wish it worked lol... Local dealer wanted $300 for the OE key and $70 to program it. Guess I'll ebay the standard key

Since our Scion xD do not have immobilizers, it would have no affect.

I own a 2012 Scion XD. I can confirm that at least mine does not have the chip in the key.
i bought a key from amazon and got it cut from a local locksmith, and it worked. I am not sure if the previous owner altered the security system. |
