Default Rattle stop materials

What materials have any of you used to successfully stop the numerous rattles that seem to occur in our cars? I have a rattle in the dash that presents itself only when the car is cold and accelerating under an engine load. It seems to be coming from about 3/4 of the way towards the windshield directly between the center waterfall and the defrost vents. I plan on removing the dash soon to run an amplifier wire so I figured I'd try and de/anti-rattle my dash while I was at it. To that end, I was thinking of using either some felt w/adhesive (like the kind you can buy in sheets to cut and put on anything that sits on top of decorative wood surfaces) or some type of weatherstripping from Home Depot. I was just in the store the other day and saw all types of weatherstripping available in many different thicknesses too so It's hard to figure out which kind would work the best. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had any luck in this area. Thanks.

Second Skin would be cheaper and works just as well. I will say that you don't need any of that to stop the rattle in the dash. That rattle required some double sided tape and a good bit of time and that is all.

edit: Missed the part where you said you would be taking your dash off already. There are (IIRC) about 5 spots that need to be taken care of to stop the rattle in the dash.

Thank you. This is exactly the information I needed. I wanted to figure on a size before I just went ahead and bought 4 different kinds off the shelf to see what looked to work the best.

There are 2 main spots you will notice in that area behind the waterfall (underneath the dash) that cause lots of rattle.

This thread shows you how to remove the dash and also some bad rattle areas.

I think you were the person who mentioned this how to in another thread I had been writing on. I completely missed the part where he mentions what exactly to use for the rattles. Thanks.

That thread helped me immensely when I put my stuff in. And also get rid of the rattles in my dash. Who knew it was so easy to take the dash off in these cars...
