Rearview cameras?
Hi all!
I'm going to be installing my nav unit and rear view camera this weekend and I was hoping some of you may be willing to share where you mounted your camera and how you routed the wire?
I plan to keep the rear wiper but my thought right now is to try to run the wire next to the washer fluid hose and mount the camera on the underside of the rear spoiler to keep it out of weather and somewhat hidden. I'm sure there have to be some other creative setups out there though so please post any info you would like to share!
Thanks!

Surely I'm not the first person to install a rear view camera? Either way I'm hoping to get some time this weekend to install. Whatever route I end up taking I'll post back details should anyone else want to give this a whirl...
Pulled the spoiler off today, ran the camera wire through an existing hole in the frame and routed the wire through the rubber grommet that the third brake light wires are routed through. Then I ran through the headliner to the passenger side plastic down to the service hole for the passenger brake light. From there I pulled the wire to the strut tower from that access panel. Finally I ran Dow the wheel well area to the door sills all the way to the dash.
Hope this helps someone out down the line!

Search e-bay with the following "Sony CCD Rear View CAMERA Scion xB xD".
You will end-up on a CCD (not cheap CMOS) 520 resolution lines rear view camera that fits in in place of one of the license plate light. 32$
NO DRILLING REQUIRED. EXACT FIT designed for the XD and the XB. Instruction included.
In a nutshell, connect the camera on the wire from one of the backup light. Run the yellow RCA cable (included) to the back of your head unit (must have one with video input).
On the XD, next to the left license plate light, there is a also place for a rear view camera installation if you prefer not to sacrifice one license plate light.

As for location, I've found placement right under the license plate worked for me. It gives me as much as I want to see. Toyota left an empty placeholder for something that I exploited. Minor drilling and a grommet applied for internal wire run and more professional finish.
As promised, here are some shots of my rearview camera add/mod:
The first pic highlights the location of the camera with an arrow pointer. Last two shots gives you some idea of the view in operation.
